I love reading about everyone elses progress and recipes - thanks!! I notice someone else mentioned being 'ahem - bunged up' on green - me too? Why do you think that is - all that veg - you would think it would be the opposite? I don't eat meat but do eat fish, so have had all green days. Any tips on solving the problem??!
Drink extra water to help with the "unbunging" process. The problem usually sorts itself out after the first week or twoon the Green plan.
Not sure how this came down as originally posted by me
"does anyone know how many grams of dried pasta/rice/cous cous you should use. also does anyone know if canned fruit in juice is free as long as you drain all the juice off? on a green day can you use syn free sausages as a HEb? i know you have to syn fruit if you juice it but what about carrots and tomatoes? also if you blend vegetables to make soup is it still free or you have to syn it like fruit?"
but to answer - use as much pasta/couscous as you want to (it's free on Green).
Tinned fruit has to be synned (or can be a HEB depending what it is) regardless of whether you drain the juice or not.
Syn free sausages can't be a HEB as there isn't enough fibre in them.
Vegetables are not syn-free if you juice them but are when you make soup from them.
Ooh sorry, just seen the reply by KellyI let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
I bought the new Summer book at SW last night and it's FAB!! Everyone loved their meal tonight.
I did a free Mousakka from the Red Book which we had with BIG salad. I did the hot spicy baby potatoes from my new book (with cummin seeds, paprika etc) they all had loads and I just counted mine as Syns (1 syn each) but I was satisfied.
For pud I made the Terrine - they have a raspberry one but I did all sorts of summer fruits in mine and it was absolutely scrummy - 1 syn per serving would you believe?? We have enough for tomorrow as well.0 -

my consultant said that we could use the morrisons eat smart pork sausages (syn free on red) as he's as they were basically just pork - i've been having 3 with loads of mash  !Lead me not into temptation, I can find the way myself.
wins - peroni bottle opener, peroni bowl, peroni coastersx2 and a vodkat cocktail kit,
would love to win something 'proper'!!0 -

Isn't it great that we've actually got a consultant on here, as we find out all the correct stuff? Really helpful, especially for those of us who can't ask things at group, and glad we've got you to help:T:T:T:T.
I wonder why the blokes do so well? Have you got any theories Consultant? (Maybe we could copy what they do, or maybe it's a metabolic thing:o):smileyheagpuss0 -

I think it will be 142gms, the same as cod or haddock etc.
Defrosted frozen fruit is free, just as it says in the FO book.
gpuss, thanks for your kind comments
My own theory on why men do so well is due to their metabolism and (lack of) hormones. We women have to contend with the monthly 'downer' even after the menopause and it does tend to mean that for one week at least, we don't lose weight.
pennylane - I'm very impressed with all that cooking, you put me to shame :rolleyes:I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

Hi
I've just started following Slimming World, and I'm doing it online.
I understand what's free on a green day and what's free on a red day, as well as healthy extras and syns etc. I was just wondering how do you go about deciding how to eat, ie what to have with what on a day. How far do you plan ahead. I'm using the Body Optimise website, and can't find a menu planning facility, only a diary which you can fill in for today and previous days.
On top of all that, any further advice / tips would be most welcome!
