does anyone know how many grams of dried pasta/rice/cous cous you should use.
also does anyone know if canned fruit in juice is free as long as you drain all the juice off?
on a green day can you use syn free sausages as a HEb?
i know you have to syn fruit if you juice it but what about carrots and tomatoes?
also if you blend vegetables to make soup is it still free or you have to syn it like fruit?

toby's mummy - i would just cook a whole pack of pasta and mix in as mujch as you think looks tasty!you can just keep the rest in the fridge for green dinners/pasta salads.

it's difficult to know if canned fruit, drained of juice is free as it's only listed as hebs WITH the juice.maybe consultant 31 can help with that query.personally i can't see how it's any different to frozen and thawed berries as long as they came in juice not syrup and the fruit is thoroughly drained but you never know with SW.

sausages are not an heb AT ALL on green.

both carrot and tomato juice has to be synned but are lower than other juices.

as long as it's got no fruit in then you can blend any soup containing free veg and it's still free!

    Hi all,

still thinking about the takeaway curry dilemma! In the food optimising book at says lamb rogan josh is 6 syns on a red day. Do you think if I had a vegetable rogan josh on a green day the syns would be the same? DH wants a curry tonight - I resisted last week but can't stop thinking about it today

    Thanks for reading!!

If you really want a curry, have one. I have one every Saturday night, but don't have the nan bread or popadums (sp). I usually have a Chicken Dupiaza, which I count as about 11 syns if I eat half and half the pilau rice.

As long as you don't go for a Korma which is full of cream, it shouldn't be too bad.

    Hope you enjoy it :rotfl:

Just a quickie, to let you know I went to my first group last night.....Astounded by how much I did weigh....shows how n old set of scales can lie!!!
I've set a long term target of 6st 6lb loss, which I am going to be breaking down into sub targets to stop myself getting disheartened.
Today I went original coz I had some steak left in the fridge, and I can eat the lot!!!
I'll be looking in now and again, posting on the odd occasion
    Thanks for listening

Welcome to the thread and well done on taking the plunge and joining a group. It's a very good idea to break your targets down into manageable chunks and (being male) I'm sure you'll speed ahead and lose weight really well - it's quite annoying for the ladies in group how well the men lose :D
I let my mind wander and it never came back!
