I could do my own graph 'n' stuff, it's just the latest syns etc that I was going to join for. That's the trouble with Slimming World - Weight Watchers is so simple you can walk around the shops and count the points up in your head from the calories and sat. fat content, but with Slimming World every food is so specific.
The Food Firectory isn't the thickest one in your pack - that's the Food Optimising book (otherwise known as your 'bible'). The Directory is £6.95 from group or as gpuss said, you can order it online +p&p.
The syns listed in the FO book are very good though, and will give you an approximate value for hundreds of everyday foods, just not the brand named ones (for instance, a ginger nut is much the same syns whoever it's made by). With the syns in there and help from on here you could manage without going to group if you're good on the self-discipline!I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
The prawns in soy sauce were yummy, btw. I also tried the natural yoghurt with a teaspoon of lemon curd in and it was lemon meringue heaven
- thanks consultant!
You're welcome - this is going down a storm in group, the average weight losses have gone up too
Ajaxgeezer - if you work shifts, you need to tell the Consultant in group and you will only pay for the classes you can attend.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

I guess this would be to my advantage if I were focussing on 'speed' foods in order to 'boost' my weight loss??
I have not been advised in class anything about F or FF (or C CC for that matter) symbols (I do know what they stand for!) - are they simply there for our information, or am I supposeed to be making choices based on this information?
Ditto Speed foods - nothing has been mentioned, but I have read all the information, and obviously I pick up lots of stuff here - have I got the gist of this correct?
thanks for your help - it is appreciated C31 :A
The symbols are there for your information only. There may be times when you need extra fibre (for example) and the symbols will help to point the right foods out for you. Speed foods are for when you're feeling all virtuous (and perhaps not terribly hungry) and want to pick out all the least 'calorific' foods (for a speedier weight loss).
And, yes, you get to choose whether you want the benefit of the speed food aspect of 57gms of cannelini beans (knowing that this amount contains the required amount of fibre for a HEB) or if you're very hungry, you can have the full 100gms in the full knowledge that you're within the guide lines for a HEB - and still aiming for a good weight loss.
If you go to a group, look out for a small book called 'Delicious Food Optimising Days'. It's a brilliant little book, retailing st only £2.95 and it has whole day menu plans in. It's excellent value and a real boost for a new SWer who may be struggling for what to have each day.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
Consultant31 - you are WONDERFUL!! That yoghourt with lemon curd was divine - I did that for us all tonight in meringue nests and it was a big hit!! Thanks so much for that. Prior to that we had the minced beef curry from the Free Original days book and that was great too, really hot & spicy. I had 4 oz boiled rice and counted it as 8 syns. Hope that's right!!
Would you mind telling me about the prawns with soy sauce please? Been back about 5 pages and can't find it. Thanks SO much. You are a mega star!!0 -
Gpuss, if I were you, I would change your weight loss to 1st 1/2 lb, it sounds so much more
Off to weigh in tomorrow, but I am looking after my granddaughter so will have to go to an evening class, which I reckon will add a couple of pounds to my weight, so am expecting to have put on a few pounds. I can't go to the morning class next week either, so will probably have a gain for the next two weeks.
The good news is that when I finally get back to mornings, I will probably lose pounds :jYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
Another 2 1/2 lbs for me this week, have got my stone award too
