I understand you have 2 heathy extra A'S and 2 B'S but can you have the same healthy twice?? Eg can i have 250ml semi-skimmed milk during the day for tea and cereal etc and then have another 250ml as a drink before bed? and that counts as my 2 A's? Or do they have to be different?

I asked about this and was told yes it is fine to take it all as milk.

    Hiya everyone.
These are some bbq ideas i wrote down yesterday as im doing a bbq for mother in laws 60th in a few weeks hope it helps?

Superfree- Garlic musrooms, Quorn sausages,Fruit salads,Veg kebabs, stuffed peppers and tomatoes, onions,

Green-Corn on the cob, pasta and rice salads, jackets spuds, garlic potatoes, bbq beans,

Red-Steaks,Hm burgers, chicken breasts, chicken drumsticks (skin removed wraped with bacon) Kebabs(bacon and veg, syns free sausage and onions), gammon steaks, fish, pork steaks, tuna steaks.

Use lots of spices and low fat marinades to flavour meat and veg, if you normally have nuts and crisps out to nibble, put some chickpeas out and french fries (4.5 per pack but you wont have alot as they are just for nibbles.
Dips make up the syn free mayo and put lots of veg sticks out to dip.

As for pudding type things im not sure if you can cook fruit and it still be syn free, but pineapple, bananans, are lovely cooked.

Well im off on a very rare night out tonight without the kids, just me and dh havent done this in years but thats what you get for having 4 kids!!!LOL So we are planning a walk to the pub for a few then calling for a chinese on way home, i have planned what food to order, having a green day so lots of boiled rice and plain noddles with a chow mein comes in at only 8.5 syns, so i am having a supperfree day throught the day lots of fruit and yoghurt and pasta, then i can have a few drinks without feeling guilt!!!!

    Have a great day everyone

  • Hi I have the same problem. Cant believe just how much the shopping bill has gone up. But I know it is well worth it in the end. I suppose if I was to add just what we used to spend on groceries plus all of the take aways I dont suppose it is much of a difference. PF

I find it is more expensive and difficult when you are buying for one and when you are financially challenged! (haha student life!) I dont particularly want to eat what they suggest for students on this diet all the time, i like to cook and making some of these new recipies has been really good and i have really enjoyed them! I also do not have the fridge or freezer space to be able to batch cook a lot of meals so i find i tend to waste quite a bit! (2 freezer drawers for 5 people! ludicrous!)

Well done for all the weight losses!
Total weight loss to date 18.5lbs! :j

this looks nice. im not sure if polenta cakes are still free or not though. i heard somewhere they are a misuse but i'm not really sure why cos there seems to be loads of recipes for polenta cakes and is a normal way to make cakes. obviously you would have to syn the butter (i use butter buds granules - only 1/2 syn per tablespoon) and the baking powder though.

    Hi everyone,

Hope you don't mind me joining you - I attended my first SW meeting today!! You all seem to be doing so well - hope I can too.

I thought I had only half a stone to lose, but am a few pounds heavier than I thought, so it 12 pounds. I really want to shift most of it in time for my hols in 5 weeks  .

I am just trying to get my head around this, so I can go shopping tomorrow and buy the right stuff!

I have planned a menu for a green day, of mostly free food. I can't go without any 'goodies' so will buy some curly wurlys and 2 finger kitkats too ;).

Can anyone tell me what Muller Rice is in Syns on Green/Red please? Also how much cereal is 28g - my guess is not much - LOL. Also I don't have any wholemeal bread - except some medium sized seedy rolls. Do you think one of these would equate to 2 slices of wholemeal bread? (I'll get a loaf tomorrow - can it be seedy or just plain wholemeal?)

Sorry for all the questions!! Off to eat my last BIG bowl of cereal before the work starts tomorrow!!

i'm not sure about the bread. i always thought you could have 57g of any wholmeal bread but not pitta bread but then consultant31 told me i couldn't have wholemeal ciabatta bread or panini bread so you might want to check about the rolls.

    Mornin all

Welcome back Amie, we missed you:j and well done on losing 3 lbs.

My favourite dip is made with very low fat onion and chive cottage cheese (not that nice on its own), but I whizz it with a blender and add garlic granules and it's a fab tangy garlic dip to go with meat or veg sticks.

A friend of mine doing SW marinates prawns in soy sauce and chucks them on the barbie (or the George Formby grill;);))and says they're gorgeous, so gonna try 'em this weekend. Soy sauce, garlic and a bit of ginger makes a nice marinade for meat too.

I only started going back a week last Tuesday to SW but can only go every other week so going again on Tues after Alton Towers. Going to try not to buy Pick n Mix and I think there's a place you can buy baked potatoes for lunch. I had chicken Chow Mein this evening but I don't know how many syns cos it says 7 for 380g but it weighed about 846g and I left a bit. I can take off 6 syns for HE but I also had a few prawn crackers and nowhere says how many syns they are so I feel really guilty now. I went from January to October last year but gave up cos I got bored and fed up that I wasn't losing the weight quickly. I tried making ice cream last Sunday and it took about 6 hours to freeze, not 2 like it says and I went back to it a few days later and needed a pick-axe to hack at it!! Also, I need to think of more easy ideas for a red day cos usually I'll make chicken or salmon with new potatoes or baked potato and veg but I tried to make curry a few times and I can't do it. It tastes kinda bitter. I follow the recipes but halve the quantity cos it's for 2 and any liquid disappears well before time's up!

I hope I stick to SW this time. I'm lazy when it comes to exercise but I have a Wii and have just had delivered a Wii-Fit so hoping that might do some good!

This recipe for ice cream is better. Stir 2 x 200g pots of Müllerlight (or other Free) yogurts and 1 x 500g pot natural yoghurt (it's meant to be fromage frais but i find natural yoghurt works better) together, sweeten to taste with artificial sweetener and pop in a freezer-proof tub.
Place in the freezer and lightly whip approximately every 30 minutes to break down any ice crystals that are forming.
Your ice cream should be ready in a couple of hours.
For a deliciously different ice cream flavour, apple pie or strawberry cheesecake varieties of Müllerlight taste great and add only 1 Syn per 200g pot.

    Hi all,

Sainsbury's are doing Wholemeal rolls packs of 9 which all weigh roughly 57g (some a little less) at buy 3 packs for £1.00. So that is 27 rolls for £1.00 !!!!!

They freeze really well and defrost quite quickly are are scrummy

Also doing Snack a Jacks Caramel packs of 6 at BOGOF and I have worked them out to be 5 syns on Green if anyone likes them (they satisfy my sweet craving [STRIKE]almost [/STRIKE]quite well
