Asparagus soup

Prep and Cook Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients:
• 1 bunch asparagus, cut into ½ inch lengths, bottom fourth discarded
• 2 medium onions coarsely chopped
• 4 cloves garlic coarsely chopped
• 3½ cups vegetable stock
• 1 TBS chopped fresh tarragon, or 1 tsp dried
• 1 12oz package of firm silken tofu
• salt and white pepper to taste

Directions:
1. Cut off bottom inch of asparagus stalks and discard. Chop rest into ½ inch lengths.
2. Healthy Saut! onion in medium soup pot over medium low heat for about 5 minutes, stirring often. Add garlic and continue to saut! for another minute.
3. Add asparagus, vegetable stock, and simmer for about 15 minutes.
4. Add tarragon, and blend with tofu in batches. Make sure that you don't fill blender more than half full, and start on low. Otherwise it may erupt and burn you.
5. Press blended soup through a strainer with a ladle and reheat if desired. Season with salt and pepper. If you don't strain this soup you will get a lot of fiber from the asparagus that is not very digestible or pleasant to eat. Serves 4
I just found this . Think it should be low sin??? I searched for asparagus soup and added dairy intollerence into the search engine. This could be a good way to search for recipees that use cream.

Hope it helps

Hello all

I am seriously considering joining Slimming World. I had a baby six months ago and despite breast feeding i'm struggling to loose the baby weight, though I think this is because I have got into bad habits and just eat quick easy things (bicuits, chocolate bars, great chunks of cheese).

Anyhow I have had an almighty kick up the bum, I'm meeting up with school friends i've not seen for 10 years in July, they're all slim and I know the cameras will be out, the last thing i want is to look huge next to them. Is Slimming World ok to do if you are breast feeding, and do people find it easy to follow? I've tried Weight watchers before, but all the counting and calculating gave me a head ache and made eating a real hassle so of course I just gave up...

I belive you can do SW if you are breastfeeding - I think you get extra calcium (Healthy Extra A's) but going to talk to a consultant would be the best! It's very easy to follow (once you've got your head around it it all falls into place!) You only weigh your (well most) Healthy Extra B's - like meat on a green (pasta/rice/potato) day.

By July you could lose loads/be at target depending on how much you've got to lose! :j :j

Hiya beccabee

Slimming world is okay for nursing mothers, I believe they have a special plan for that.

Well done you, not that it should matter what your old friends are like now. You just do it for you and you will feel loads better luv

It is easy to follow, I have just had a bit of a blip at the moment, but the beauty of it is, you can have a blip for a couple of days but then just get right back on the plan and there is absolutely no need to ever go hungry as there is such a wide variety that you can eat, and all healthy too.

I think you will be surprised to find you have lots more energy as well, which is a bonus with a new baby.

Also you will find loads of support on this thread, the people here are great, patient, supportive and a font of knowledge.

Good luck

Thank you all for your replies. I'd like to loose at least 2 stone, is this a realistic goal for 3 months? This was the other thing I found with WW they seemed to think I needed to weigh less than 10 stone, but at 11 stone I looked boney and less and I would have looked really unhealthy, they were adamant that this needed to be my target which also put me off.

beccabee - I look thin at 12 stone though my 'correct' weight should eb nearer 10. Dont worry about it - its what you feel comfortable with!

2 stone in 3 months should be doable. I lost 3.5stone in 5m last time I did it - its coming off a bit slower this time though

Go for it - you'll never feel better! :j

Hi Becca and welcome to the gang:j!

I agree with Catt. I'm setting my own target at the weight I feel good at, which is above what I probably 'should' weigh, although I don't attend a class now anyway.

I didn't like my WW class, as I just felt they were geared up to getting as much money out of you as possible, selling all manner of things to desperate people and there was no personal touch. The SW classes sound much better, and lots of people on here swear by them. I just prefer to weigh myself and spend the cash on other things.

Afternoon everybody:hello:

Nice to hear most of you are doing so well, it does help to keep my motivation going hearing it can be done.

I have weigh in later and not looking forward to it after last week, I feel bloated for some reason and really feel as I haven't lost anything after my hard work this week, I even tried shocking the system by have bacon and eggs for breakfast instead of cereal. I didn't really enjoy it and was hungry all day.

Back to normal today,
Brekkie - cereal, HEa,HEB
Lunch - mug shot, grapes and strawverries
Tea - rice,. peppers hm curry with sw chips - yummy cant wait until later.

Fingers crossed for everybody else who has wi, we can do it.

Iv been at SW for almost 4 weeks now, and my consultant hasnt made me set a target yet, and she told me when im ready to do so she will help me decide but has told me it is up to me what my target will be.
Im aimming for my 10% goal first then i will decide what to set my goal weight at.
I need to loss around 3 stone in total and have lost 8.5lb in 3 weeks already, i think i will set myself mini goals, at each stone to keep me going, 3 stone seems so far away but made into smaller steps sounds better!

Hi Nessa, We are always more critical of ourselves than others, and I deserved not to lose, as I was fairly bad. You must be doing something right as you've lost 9lbs:T and you've maintained your new slimmer size, so that's good:T. Sometimes you just hit a plateau and I'm sure it will register on the scales next week if you go for it 100%:j
