    Hi all,

    Hoping you experts can help!

It is office tradition to bring in cakes, biscuits etc when it is your birthday, but practically the whole office (apart from me!) is on slimming world. Not bringing in something or bringing in fruit has been deemed unacceptable!

Please can you recommend low sin ready made goodies or some easy low sin recipes that would keep everyone happy?

This is easier than it looks and is delicious (made up by Geoff the chef at SW Head Office):-

    Dark chocolate & Berry Roulade

Serves 8 at 1.5 syns per serving

    6 eggs, separated
    9 tbsp Splenda
    2oz cocoa powder
    ½ tsp vanilla essence
200g tub of VLF natural fromage frais
6oz mixed berries (thawed if frozen)

    Preheat oven to 180c/350f/Gas 4.
Line a 13x9in swiss roll tin.
    Whisk egg whites until stiff.
In another bowl whisk the egg yolks & 8tbsp splenda until creamy.
Sieve all but 1tsp of the cocoa and using a metal spoon fold into the egg yolks, with a quarter of the egg whites and the vanilla Essence.
Fold in the remaining egg whites, spoon into the tin and smooth over the top.
Bake for 10 - 12 mins until just set. Leave to cool in the tin.

Mix the Fromage frais with the rest of the splenda.
In a separate bowl crush the berries and chill both until required.
Turn the sponge onto a sheet of baking parchment.
Spread the Fromage frais and top with the berries.
Roll the sponge into a swiss roll.
Chill for at least an hour.
Dust with cocoa & splenda and serve.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

Oooh are they?? I think I should get some brochures - that might spur me on!

Never been that keen on quiche - but that breakfast one sounded good if someone would be kind enough to post the reciepe again? :o

I love my savoury rice (at the mo anyway!) so will have that again definately. Never been sure on HM pasta/potato salad as I feel it needs lost of naughty sauce! Might Google a few receipes and see what I come up with. Thanks :D

I've just come back from Las Vegas and it's a sight to be seen - over the top but amazing all the same. New York is just the most exciting place I've ever been and you'll want to buy, buy, buy while you're there so definitely best to keep up with the slimming.

Breakfast quiche - whisk 4 eggs. Chop up cooked bacon, a couple of cooked low syn sausages and add anything else you fancy. Add to the egg with salt and ground black pepper. Whisk together, pour into a quiche tin and cook Gas 6 for 40 mins or until cooked and golden on top. You can add a hea of grated cheese to the top if you like.

For home made salads I use ½ and ½ very low cal mayo and 0% Greek yogurt mixed together for the sauce. Add a little black pepper and salt if you like it and only put on the salad at the last minute as it can sometimes turn a little watery. I don't notice a difference and it's very low syn (adding a teaspoon of tomato sauce makes it into a seafood type sauce for only ½ syn)

Whilst I'm here does anyone know how to sym homemade cakes/muffins please??

If you've got a food directory it's easy just to look up the ingredients and syn as you go, dividing by the number of servings when it's cooked. Otherwise it will be hard if not impossible I would think.

I have to say though, that if you're going to be baking cakes, muffins etc., I think you're setting yourself up to fail. I don't mean to sound harsh, but it's too much temptation having home made goodies around the house (unless it's just me that's got no willpower!)

I'm impressed - I gave up baking about 5 years ago when I decided to join SW and I've never started again or I [STRIKE]think[/STRIKE] know I'd be like a house end.

I have to be strong, on a tight budget and with 4 kids in the house i bake alot, buns biscuits ect, but i put them in a tin count out how many i need for school pack ups, treats before tea and everything else gets eat whilst its warm by the kids.
I love cooking and baking and would really miss it if i gave it up, but have now started to enjoy making healthy SW main meals that can be adapted for me dh and the kids.
