  • This whole thread has gone way off the real topic - IGLOO was treated badly - clearly the Manager involved got it wrong - the whole matter could have been treated with much greater skill.

But now the matter has changed to another issue - if Igloo wrote to Tesco's head office at Cheshunt (and hopefully she addressed the letter for the personal attention of Terry Leahy who isnormally scrupulous about the practice of good customer relations) then I am most surprised that she has not yet received a reply. Even if the reply merely promised to investigate the matter and respond in greater detail later when all the facts had been looked at.

So Igloo - how about now telling us which store was involved, together with the names of the people involved. AND would you like to reproduce your letter of complaint to Tesco?

If you do this you can be sure of:-
    a) a speedy response from Tesco
    b) the whole incident being picked up in at least 3 of the national newspapers
    c) a full and proper policy on coupon redemption being applied across the whole of the Tesco chain.

Come on Igloo - spill the beans if you still feel aggrieved by Tesco's treatment of you!

Throw leeks at me, will they?

In that case, I'll throw Lidl branded Wild Pink Salmon at them, which (a) would be very funny, and (b) is much cheaper than Tesco Wild Pink Salmon so more salmon can be thrown/eaten for the same amount of dosh! :D

If you want a little fun and perhaps even an amusing surprise next time you open a can of salmon use an electric can opener so that you can use the lid to press down and drain the fish, then weigh it! check the drained weight on the can and you will find you have been robbed by a considerable margin, this applies to canned tuna also in fact you will be lucky to find one that comes anywhere near the claimed drained weight and they vary quite considerably from producer to producer in fact some actually have a greater than 50% water to fish ratio! Now that's robbery.

Once you've got over the shock you can always write a terse letter to the producer requesting an explanation, you may even get a little sweetener in the post.

I don't think any purpose would be served by providing such details in this forum, and certainly don't think any of the three reactions you suggest would result from doing so, Igloo has already given updates and responded to various slurs on her character and stated she is acting on advice from both this forum and elsewhere and will post as and when there are new developments.

To do more would only draw more criticism to herself, bear in mind that just because she came to this forum and requested help and advice on her plight doesn't mean we have some god given access to her personal life all of a sudden.

I must admit I did indeed get quite amused by your salmon comment but merely because it was aimed at someone claiming to be a Tesco Extra security manager {previously Tesco store manager although I don't know what he used to break the fall jumping from such a dizzy height to his present position} much in the same way I found it amusing to send him off to find mispriced produce for us.

And by the way where did you get a picture of my garden lawn from?

Your garden lawn? You mean to say your garden lawn is the new Swansea City FC Stadium? Wow! :D

P.S: I actually have a great affection for Wales and the Welsh and I just love Swansea - I'm going there in a few weeks :j :j :j

My mistake your picture makes it look bigger than it actually is, no my front lawn isn't the swansea field, does it still carry the namve Vetch now?

  • "I'm angry at the salmon price hiking by almost 50% overnight is there something funny about it? "

Not sure about anything funny but sure smells fishy to me - why? coz I was in a store a week or two ago, and noticed the pink salmon large cans at 99p and bogof as well so its seems like what we all probably knew anyway was that BOGOF often is simply a slightly reduced priced for a bulk buy of 2.

I often see products nearly double in price and get shown as BOGOF! Before 4 weeks later appearing as "50% off" at their original price without the BOGOF.

A salmon product at Sainsburys used to literally alternate between BOGOF and 50% off every few weeks. Only snag was when opting for home shopping they often only deliver 1 when the BOGOF was running despite ordering two!

I have formed the conclusion that BOGOF is used to hike prices to get round the "higher price for 28 days in the last 6 months" law on pricing without denting sales. Never take a BOGOF or price reduction at face value!

    YMMV - Rufus.
  • They weren't on BOGOF at my store! :(

    Debt-free and Proud!
Just back on the original post - I'm a journalist for national newspapers and women's magazines, and if the OP PMs me then I'd be happy to do a story to shame Tesco. I shop there! How dare they treat people like this? It may not be illegal but it's shameful.
