Unable to do that, we would be in contravention of the Data Protection Act.
So perhaps you could explain why so many staff were all eyes when I was shoping earlier? As far as I know, I wasn't wearing or carrying anything which made me stand out!
Oh and another thing - why has Tesco's Tinned Wild Pink Salmon shot from 67p to 99p overnight?  :mad:0 -
I've got £25k of my mortgage stoozed onto 0% deals. As far as I can see, I can't see anything in the T&Cs of credit cards which restricts what I'm allowed to use my credit cards to pay off. Perhaps you could explain in exactly which way I'm acting immorally? The companies give me credit @0% so long as I pay off by a defined date, which is exactly what I do. I'd say the fact I use that to pay for my house rather than drinks down the boozer is sensible, not immoral.
Ben's right, I think you need to read my post again. I think stoozing is wonderful and not at all immoral. I was merely contrasting it with the views of some who've posted here who seem to think that using lots of coupons is immoral. Again, I don't. I fully agree with doing everything legal and within the rules that maximises the money we save, including stoozing and using every coupon that Tesco is willing to accept. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.

Never heard the phrase "stoozing" until the other day, but I did buy a car last year using my credit card!! £9,000 borrowed - interest paid to date - £0!! I reckon we will have saved around £2,500 in interest over a 3 year period by the time it is paid off. I fail to see how that is immoral - no worse than banks charging you 2.75% handling fee when you use a card abroad, or banks charging £40 to bounce a cheque when you're overdrawn.
Stoozing as with Tesco Clubcard deals and coupon offers can EASILY be stopped - don't lend people large amounts of money at 0% without asking where it is going, don't give 150 points for spending £1.98 on beef, don't accept money off coupons if you don't buy the item etc.
The reason we get to take advantage of these offers is because the big companies accept that some of us will, but most people won't, and they only do this because in the round they make a BIG BIG profit from the way they operate! I have absolutely no qualms about taking advantage of them, because they are only too happy to take advantage of us.You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0 -
ben500 wrote:Well that certainly looks as, if not more plausible than my interpretation and I am not about to challenge it, I was trying to view from a judgemental point of view in that the officer would have least been able to demonstrate, that, he acted in good intent in the belief he had an opportunity to prevent a crime, and that anyone sitting in such a case would take the view that whilst not strictly lawful at the same time not unlawfull or unreasonable even given the information available to the officer at the time.
My opinion not a challenge just looking to bounce my thoughts.
A good police officer really wouldn't get involved in this, though, as no crime has been committed, and there's no likelihood of a crime being committed, as it's purely a civil matter. If Tesco wants the card back, which it gave free and willingly to the customer, Tesco would have take civil action against the customer, should the customer refuse to part with the card. Saying that, it would be easier for Tesco to just cancel the card on their systems, thus rending the card useless and invalid.
There really was no need for the manager and security officer to detain the customer, as the card can be invalidated easily by Tesco HO. The detainment was wrong and could be seen as unlawful, as the customer had committed no crime, therefore citizen's arrest does not apply, and the matter of the clubcard is civil, therefore not something you can hold someone for. The OP could easily argue that the manager and security officer purposely held her in order to intimidate her, using the above reasons to substantiate her claim. The manager is not legally allowed to force the OP to give her name, either, as she has done nothing wrong. Detaining her for this reason is unlawful. In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

Edinburghlass, I'm not having a go at you but as a fellow Moneysaver I would like to have a (hopefully mature and respectful) discussion about a couple of your points.
What incorrect inferences have I drawn from Igloo's posts? You said everyone had done so but Igloo has posted since I made my comments yesterday and didn't contradict me as far as I can tell. If my first incorrect inference was that you implied that I had previously made an incorrect inference, you can also infer that I apologise for the misunderstanding. :-)
I've just been trying to help another Moneysaver who presented us with a pretty awful experience and whose first word was 'Help!'
Imagine how you'd feel if a friend or family member told you this had happened to them.
I'm sure the idea that he/she had been falsely imprisoned might cross your mind too - and I'm sure you wouldn't care too much for the Tesco employees' version of events either.
You'd probably be inclined to believe your friend/relative and I think the spirit of this forum, as corny as it sounds, is to behave as if we are one big Moneysaving family. (Yes, I know that families don't always get on either!) ;-)
Also, as a previous poster said, the two Tesco employees would have a hard job convincing a civil court that they had been defamed because they have not been identified and the terms in which they are described have been general - helped by the fact that this has probably happened to other people as well as Igloo so we really could be talking about any Tesco store here. Besides, Igloo's story is probably true or substantially true (legally it wouldn't have to be 100 per cent true as long as the gist of it was and the errors were minor ones), in which case this website could offer the defence of justification.
Maybe on some Tesco employees' message board somewhere there is a thread about troublesome Moneysavers like us!
To get back on track - Igloo, despite all the difference of opinion here, you are among friends. I hope I speak for most of us in wishing you all the best in sorting this out and I hope we have been of some help/support.0 -

I assumed Ben500 was laughing at the comment about the staff, not the salmon...and you're on dangerous ground starting to pick on the Welsh.
They'll start throwing leeks at you if you aren't careful...Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

Throw leeks at me, will they?
In that case, I'll throw Lidl branded Wild Pink Salmon at them, which (a) would be very funny, and (b) is much cheaper than Tesco Wild Pink Salmon so more salmon can be thrown/eaten for the same amount of dosh!0 -
I must admit I did indeed get quite amused by your salmon comment but merely because it was aimed at someone claiming to be a Tesco Extra security manager {previously Tesco store manager although I don't know what he used to break the fall jumping from such a dizzy height to his present position} much in the same way I found it amusing to send him off to find mispriced produce for us.
And by the way where did you get a picture of my garden lawn from?Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0
