Never thought of putting them in water! I just strip off the outer layer of leaves and they're good as new, but resprouting them is a genius idea.Grocery challenge September 2022: £230.04/£200

I keep mine in the salad drawer and tbh - they last at least a week if not more! but then - I often peel off the outer layer if it looks a bit past it.
I do use a lot of spring onions - so its very rare they are kept more than a few days!0 -

Don't know why I didn't think to do that when I bought them ....
I am probably being a bit dense, and I am very sleep deprived at the moment, but what do you men by the "bud" - is that the bottom of the onion?0 -
Mine usually last well between salads, stir-fry but I'd like to freeze some when I can get them cheaply. Do you just slice and open freeze?0

I wrap mine in paper towel and store them in the veg drawer at the bottom of the fridge. They stay fresh for ages.
I do the same with cucumber.:)Felines are my favourite

I wrap in tin foil the same as I do with celery or cucumber and they seem to keep quite well in that Celery will keep for ages this way0

Spring onion and cream cheese tart! *drool*
I've been known to use them in a dip with either sour cream (don't buy often) or a combo of plain yoghurt and mayo with some chopped chives. If I'm feeling virtuous (hardly ever) I'll have them with some raw veggies otherwise it's tortilla chips, or potato crisps for a snack when watching telly or a starter when I have chums round.0 -
Thread title says it all
.
Called into Mr M's last night and they had bags of "selected seconds" of spring onions for 20p. The single bunch I was intending to buy was 59p!!
When I got home and counted them there were 25 bunches!! They are currently sitting in a jug of water on my kitchen windowsill to keep fresh.
I will use some in salad, wraps and stir fry planned for this weeks menu, but does anyone have any other ideas??
Thanks in advance.
