Hi,
I have a quick question about how to be OS with spring onions. They are cheap from Aldi so I always get a bunch for the week ahead yet by Wednesday they are already looking really sad for themselves ... is there any way around this? I store them in the fridge veg box0 -
I keep mine in a glass of water tho they do sprout a bit - doesn't bother me!Just call me Nodwah the thread killer0

Depends what you use them for. I would wash and chop half the bunch and freeze them. Lovely for champ!Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D

I use them in salads, stirfries, pasta sauces & stews.

I've never found the solution to this and pay more for the packed ones.
I use a lot of spring onions and it does add up, but it's better for me to pay a bit more and them be fresh when I want to use them than buy a cheap bunch and them wilt on me.Total Debt Sept 2010 - £24,132.38 / Current - £0.00/ 100% paid

Sorry if this sounds obvious - but what are the packed ones?0 -
This thread has more suggestions for making them last longer:
How do you store spring onions?
I'll add this thread to that one later to keep the suggestions together.
