Rave wrote:However, to bulk my shop up, I grabbed six packs of sliced beef for clubcard points- at least I thought I did. In fact I grabbed five beefs and one pack of chicken (cost £1.00 rather than 66p). I spotted that at the checkout and took it back to correct it- but instead of charging me for the six beefs that I left the store with, the checkout operator charged me for 6 chickens and one beef, so I've been overcharged to the tune of £2.70. I'm going to have to go back tomorrow and try and get another refund- very irritating:mad:.
but even though you point out the error, they won't take off your extra points, but will give you a refund. So win again! Lots of points, money back and get to keep the product!:beer:Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

Went into Ashford Tesco yesterday (just off J9 M20) and saw the 2 for £2.00 offer on Tesco Hi Juice.
I'd previously been advised this no longer included the Blackcurrant versions but this sign never said this, so I spoke to a member of staff who said that they were included.
I was in a rush so I paid and left. Upon examination it turned out that they'd charged me full price for both !! I went back the next day and spoke to customer service who tried to tell me that although it was my fault, they would refund me the difference. I told them this wasn't good enough and that the sign clearly states 2 for £2 with no exclusions mentioned.
The girl was not playing ball and stated that as the sign was not at the same height as the bottles I purchased, that this obviously didn't count !!
I could see I was getting nowhere so I asked to speak to a supervisor. I returned to Customer service about 5 minutes later and she turned up with a face like thunder and stated that the manager had agreed to refund me the money - on this occasion !!
It just goes to show what a little perserverance can get you - £3.56 and 2 free bottles of High juice in my case.
I left with a smile on my face and a spring in my step and i'll be sending an e-mail to Tesco about the rude treatment I received - so who knows !!

Hi
I was in my local Tesco's yesterday looking at the organic steak. There was no shelf label and the packs of meat had some that were £14.99 per kilo and newer ones at the pack with £12.99 per kilo, special offer stamped all over them.
As there was no shelf label does that mean I couldn't do anything?
Slightly confused so looking for help.
Also what exactly do you say to the lovely CS people if you do spot an error?
Many thanks. No one puts baby in the corner.0 -
What you say is easy......
1. Put the overcharged items in their own bag so they are easily accessable at CS
2. Place them on the CS counter and point out that you have been overcharged on these items.
3 Hand them the receipt (ALONG WITH YOUR CREDIT CARD!) and ask for the item to be refunded to the card as you paid with it.
This method politely lets them know that you are aware of their policy and your rights, so you don't get palmed off with excuses or part refunds.
Never ever had any fuss with this method.....
Till the day they ban me!!!!
Savings so far at Tesco's due to mis-pricing........
Too Much to Remember!!!! :rotfl:

Thing is, they've not overcharged for the product, but charged for the wrong product - cashier error - which apparently is an ENTIRELY diffierent thing, and does not entitle you to have a refund and keep the product, just to a refund of the overcharge. Would be interesting to see if they do refund though.

In this case you couldn't do anything, no, as you wouldn't be being overcharged because there is no advertised price that is less than the packet price.
If there is no shelf price advertising a different price to the packets, then whichever pack you pick up (with either a £12.99 per Kg or £14.99 per Kg) is the correct price for that particular packet - there is no price advertised that says differently so there is no misleading advertising.0 -
We plucked up the courage to go to Tescos last night. Picked up a Pork joint priced £6.89 per kilo on the pack & £6.85 per kilo on the shelf. Also picked up 2 packs of the Organic Argentian Steak priced £14.99 per kilo on the pack & £12.99 on the shelf. Sent hubby back to get a refund (chickened out! lol) He came back angry and embarrassed. CS were very rude to him infront of a queue of people and said that the label didn't say Argentinian (even though it was the only organic steak they sold & was next to the steaks) so refused a refund....did get the money back for the Pork Joint though. Don't think we will try again...too scary _pale_0

love2save- the cheeky sods:mad:. Tecsos often have a generic ticket on the shelf for, say, sirloin steak, and then the pack itself will elaborate by saying where the steak is from (E.G. Brazil or Argentina). Regardless of where it's from, as far as Tescos pricing is concerned it's all sirloin steak. I bet it won't say that it's Argentinian on your receipt. CS were lying to you to fob you off and you should go back and ask to see a manager. As proof you can compare the barcode on the product with the barcode on the shelf- there will be a section of the numbers that matches up.sarahg1969 wrote:Thing is, they've not overcharged for the product, but charged for the wrong product - cashier error - which apparently is an ENTIRELY diffierent thing, and does not entitle you to have a refund and keep the product, just to a refund of the overcharge. Yes, it was a cashier error- she was in a hurry to pack up so she could go to the loo as it happened;). Partly my fault too- I should have been paying attention and realised that the bill was a couple of quid too high. I went in this morning on the way to the station and explained what happened, and they corrected the error and refunded me the difference (in cash, although I paid by debit card) and were fine about it. I had no intention of asking for a full refund and keep the product, since it wasn't an error with their pricing.
Edit: BTW, does anyone else get a wicked adrenaline rush when you successfully get a refund? I always manage to control myself until I'm round the corner from the shop but then I have to do a bit of a jump for joy!:dance:0 -
I was v lucky the other day, when I wanted beef and had to make up the numbers with two chicken - they said that because I really wanted beef (have they SEEN my freezer!!!??), they'd just charge me for beef instead - so, not only do we get something different to eat, but it was cheaper too!! Woohoo.
As for the adrenaline rush - absolutely know what you mean.0 -
