OK at Weston Favell tonight they had Turkey Stir Fry strips, 400g for £1.99, buy 2 for £3 - enormous special promotion in the chiller at the end of the meat aisle. Went through at full price, so I had it for free
They also had their tomato and herb tortilla wraps, usually 99p but today they were buy two packs for £1.50 (which did go through correctly at 2 for £1.50). Cheapest fajitas I've ever made!
Apparently they were giving away free garden furniture there at Weston Favell for a period on Wednesday. Was supposed to be BOGOF but the tills weren't giving the reduction, so the manager instructed the cashiers to give it away for free until the pricing was fixed! Sadly I was at work at the timeThanks to all who post constructively.
Have an A1 day!0 -
My other half popped into tesco on his way home and spotted pork joints STILL mis-priced - first lot i bought was 3 weeks ago! - anyhow after getting a refund at the CS, duty manager came over and has now banned him from the store!
Said that he had been "rummaging through their meat dept! and that he was a serial complainer of overcharged items"
hubbie said he wouldn't mind so much but it's usually me that spots the mistakes - it's only the 2nd time he's ever asked for a refund.
Any suggestions?0 -
There are a few other people on the forums who have been banned for excessive coupon use or deliberately getting overcharged so they can get the items free.
Regardless of if you believe you are just following policy, it does seem that Tesco are cracking down on this. Ultimately their stores are private property and they have the right to ban people if they wish.
You could try calling the store or head office, but personally I would not bother unless you also want to risk them possibly closing your Clubcard account. (At least you can still go in the store and spend the clubcard vouchers).0 -

That's pretty shocking how they ban people for these reasons when they are well within their rights to get their money back due to misprices etc. Oh well, I don't want to risk getting banned so I won't bother looking for a misprice for another half year!Tesco points: 101 (£21.50, £19.50, £7.50, £21 & £5)
Boots points: £0.28
Pigsback points: 715 (4 xBoots£10 & 1 xPizzaHut£10, 2 x £10 clothing vouchers)
Mutual points: 3417 (redeemed 8250)

Stupid thing is, how are you supposed to KNOW that stuff is mispriced unless you've looked for it? That said, I think I've had enough bargains for one week - think I'll give it a rest for a while.
One thing that I have done though, so as not to make myself too obvious, is to use three different local stores, pay by cash and not use my Clubcard. If they asked for a name and address, I'm sure I could think of one!0 -

No problem next time your overcharged just go to Trading Standards instead and lets see them justify banning people for noticing they have been OVERCHARGED! now there's a story for the press if I ever saw one.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -

Watchdog? I've felt intimidated by CS staff listing back to me the other recent refunds I've had and I've felt that if I complain too often then I'll get banned as well. If Tesco won't honour the policy (which is what they're effectively doing by banning the people who try and rely on it) then it's tantamount to saying that only customers who don't note the advertised price can claim refund and product for free. Err, well that's basically saying it's a policy for show only isn't it? How on earth would you know if you'd been overcharged unless you checked the shelf/packet prices in the first place?
I think Tesco are playing a dangerous game by banning people as this is the sort of story that Watchdog and the papers would love.
Incidentally, I never had a reply to my email to Tesco the other day (asking why they wanted my details etc). Anyone got a direct email addy for the head office? I went through the website before.0 -
If they banned me for taking advantage of this policy, I'd wait until the manager/ CS assistant concerned was not on duty, then pop in and note down as many misprices as possible. Then I'd walk out, call Trading Standards on my mobile, and list every single one in loving detail:).
I went to try and grab myself some free bacon last night to make a carbonara, but as I got to the store the fire alarm was going off- and it didn't reopen. I'll have to go tonight instead:rolleyes:.0 -

I think you have answered your own point: banning the people who try and rely on it
If you notice you have been genuinely overcharged, you can get a refund no problems. The problem begins when you deliberately try and get overcharged so you can claim more free food.
As for going to trading standards, there are two rules which they will look at before taking action:Is the overcharge significant? (More than 10%) Is the overcharge of a technical / minor nature?
The most likely outcome is "Informal action / advice". This information is from the trading standards website.0
