Thriftylad wrote:Love this thread - keep up the good work moneysavers. Went into our favourite store today and nearly bagged the biggest freebie ever. Saw a Acer laptop PC with £495 on shelf, but a price of something like £695 printed on the box, next to the picture. Took it to the till for a price check and was told it was £597!! Unfortunately it was the last one on the shelf, I didnt have my credit card with me and (unusually) the assistant was on the ball and took the label off the shelf 'to look into it'! Still if it happened in one store it could easily happen in the others, though I can imagine the fight I would have had to get them to adhere to their own policy with a refund of that much.
You say it was the last one there. Imagine how many people bought that laptop and were overcharged. You'd think that an overcharge of £192 would have been noticed, though. However, it looks like Tesco didn't have that problem otherwise the shelf price would have been removed after the first complaint.
Incidentally, the biggest bargain of all (not tesco related, though) was the PC World laptop for £289 which they have yet to charge my credit card for. They've only got one month left before the 6 months is up and the laptop is mine for free. The best bit about it is that my laptop was replaced twice (due to being faulty both times) and I got a newer model with different hardware and a receipt for the original price of just under £600. They also gave me a £50 voucher for all my troubles.

What like they do with the ham, bacon, steak etc, don't be fooled into thinking they would have, I'll be checking a few stores and wetting my pants laughing if I find one!Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -

The old £289 packard bell eh......I had one of those, but they managed to charge meLooks like you were very lucky indeed. If this is not just a mistake in comparing product to price label (no offence) then this is worth trying a few stores for.

I will definitely be on the look out for it, too. I guess people saw the price on the box and probably thought they didn't have any comeback. It would definitely be worth fighting for if you can find one, though, as that's one trading standards would have a field day with.In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?

I don't know about the rest of you but I think it is disgusting that there is still so much of this gammon, cheese and bacon out there mispriced after getting burned so badly on it Tesco still don't have the drive to sort out their prices, now if that's not complacent then I can think of only one other reason for it.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0
