yes if the shelf edge label is lower than you get charged its yours (from Tesco). You need to look for the price per KG for a lot of the good ones on meat and cheese at the moment

is it right to say when an item is marked to be overpriced on product but marked differnet on shelf you get to keep product and get refund.please could you let me know i have seen this several times and noy bought the item

That's right, Kixxy. If the item on the product is more than the price indicated on the shelf, you are entitled to a full refund and the product for free. This also includes items like fresh meat or cheese, where the price per kg/lb is given. If the shelf price shows a cheaper price per kg/lb than the product, you've been charged a higher price than the shelf price, thus entitled to full refund and the item for free.

For example: Somerset Brie was showing ast £6.48 per kg or so on the shelf, but charged at £7.90 oer kg on the pack. This meant people buying that were paying more per kg than the shelf price indicated, thus were overcharged.

A Bacon joint that said £3.42 per kilo on the shelf and was priced at £3.44 a kilo on the item.

I'm just back from Tesco and I saw this too.......................but my bottle went and I knew I couldn't bring myself to take it back for a refund so I didn't buy it. I really wanted to bite the bullet and do it but folk were beginning to notice I was arguing with myself so I left it. :rotfl: (Not out loud I hasten to add.......I just stood there for ages quietly debating.)

On the upside, I got 24 packs of beef and I only noticed when I got home that a few of them are the larger 227g packs but the checkout girl just scanned them as 24 @66p so I got a bit more of a bargain. :D
Herman - MP for all! :)
  • I have just got home from Tescos and checked my receipt and have been charged £1.25 for the 114g packs of beef!!! So have to go back and get my refund!!

I bought half a leg of lamb a couple of days ago at Tesco it was overpriced, so I took it back to the store, the girl said she had to go and ask what to do ... she returned and apologised for keeping me waiting, she said she had to see 4 manager to get an answer ..... she offered to refund me £1, so I said well if thats the case, can I have a refund and you keep the meat, she insisted on going back to the Managers and then she returned to say 'oh now a different story! I have to give you a cash refund and you get to keep the joint of Lamb'. :T Thats the first time I have asked for a refund due to something being overpriced :)

I doubt it, and not if they put the same effort in to checking prices as *some of their customer service.

Ben - I bought some of those £3.50 Khaki trousers the other day in Pompey - so cheers!
