  • I had the 4p curry sauce last nite with chichen, mushrooms & courgettes and also for the first time, put a couple of spoonsfulls of creme fraiche in it. This made it far nicer and cremier than it is on its own, which is how I usually would have eaten it. I used to think, Ok it soes the job but last nite really thought Yum!

  • Going to be controversial here, and say -

    - Carrots are great. So what if they're a little varied in shape and size? Wonderful roasted.

I used to buy the bags of basics carrots, but the loose ones are now cheaper per kg, incase anyone hasn't noticed (68p/kg for loose compared to 89p/kg for basics).
  • I switched from Morrisons to Sainsburys after trying some of the SB products when I was ill and had to shop on-line. Have mostly been very pleased with the quality of the tinned goods and fruit and vegetables.

The only problem I've had, twice is ordering the basic mushrooms on-line and ending up with tiny weeny mushrooms with huge compost covered roots. so take ages to prepare and paying for approx 50% compost. The first time I thought it was bad luck but after having to chuck a second lot I shan't be ordering them again. I guess instore you can have a good look at the box.
The basics whole chicken is normally good but last week one was delivered that was off, I didn't discover until I was about to cook it either, it stunk the house out. Sainsburys were very good and refunded the price but that didn't help with the ruined meal!

I only buy tea bags for visitors am tempted to try the basics but the reviews seem to be mixed.

Loo roll is fine, curry sauce is tasty. Pickle tastes like Branston.Tissues exellent.

Basic white bread was nasty, dry and yeasty tasting.

I'm talking about mysupermarket not sainsbury's own site.
I already tried a search on mysupermarket and they still don't show up at all.

A search for basics beans just gets tinned "beans & sausages" & "red kidney beans"
    + loose green beans.

that's where I did the search in mysupermarket. Not sure why you couldn't get it to work. Hope you've managed to find it now.

I visited my favourite Sainsburys store yesterday and found that SB oranges have gone up to £1.00! I'm hoping that this is just a case of price fluctuation as over the last 6 months or so they've yoyo'd between 69, 89 and 99p.

Has anyone found that this happens with other BS items?
