After lurking here for a while, I thought I should step forward and present my blog. I was actually encouraged by this forum post to actually see if I can put together meals or dishes using nothing but Sainsbury's Basics items, with sensible exceptions (like cooking oil, which has no Basics equivalents). The blog is found at: http://backtosainsburysbasics.blogspot.com
Thanks for this, just had a look and will be giving the aubergine and mince a go - I didn't even realise there was aubergine in the basics range0 -
The basics frozen mixed fruit for £1 is just fine on the cereal in the mornings, goes a bit watery but hey it is not going to be like the fresh fruit and is cheap:D
We make smoothies with the frozen fruit, basics plain yogurt and milk very tasty. Or you could cook it down with a teaspoon of sugar depending on how tart they are and cook until syrupy and use again with yogurt just like the fruit corners. I did ask at my branch, (sains ripley derbyshire) if the "try basics range and if you dont like it money back" stood there, 3 staff looked at me blankly and said they didnt know/wasnt told if it was, so they called up top manager and they said yes it stands. So you cant lose!:T
I shop there too. Am a recent convert to the Sainsbury's basic range and my kids prefer almost all the stuff I've bought from Sainsburys than the stuff I used to get from the huge Mr T's in the next town."Who’s that tripping over my bridge?" roared the Troll.

Tempted to try sainsburys delivery to try these, however dont have a sainsburys in walking distance.
Would it be worthwhile to try the products?? considering delivery a whacking £6 for orders under £40:eek:OU Law studentMay Grocery challenge£30/ £110 -
- My favourite Basics is the sweet pickle. Quarter the price of Branston and i genuinely think it's tastier :cheesy:
- I like the musli too. Ridiculously cheap. I think it's the simplicity that makes it nice. The posh ones have too many different things in and the flavour becomes a mish-mash.
-General purpose cleaner in the white plastic bottle costs almost nothing, 19p i think, and is fine. I use it 1 part to about 15 parts of water to fill up the kitchen surface sprayer rather than buy a new one when it runs out
-Any of the prepacked Basics vegetables are great, just funny shapes.
Chop 'em up and bung them on top of a Basics 12" pizza (88p).
-The no-no for me are the Basics frozen peas - not tender at all  So i get the normal Sainsburys ones.0 -
A new one for us - basics mixed nuts. Huge bag (750g) of the blighters for a monstrously cheap £3.50. Recommended. Far too more-ish, though (had to get the wife to hide them and not tell me where they are, lol).Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
I use the Basics fresh filter coffee. I often buy good quality coffees from a range of sources and believe this has a great full taste.0

Been using their Toilet block (you know the stuff you put in the cistern and turns the water blue). Works well, lasts at least a couple of weeks (with me and kids being at home etc) and 2 costs 31p.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife
