I would recommend the tinned chopped tomatoes, tinned kidney beans, tomato ketchup, oven chips, tinned custard, maderia cake (is that how you spell it), frozen choc lollies (£1.50 FOR 16) my kids love em, stir fry chicken breast, the baps are lovely, i freeze them and they are lovely and soft and doughy, hubby loves the multi pack snack selection.............. basically (no pun intended) everything we have bought we have liked, except for the cheese sauce in the pot from the chiller, yuk yuk yuk
I must admit I haven't tried the t-bags, but will pop them on my list this week and give them ago.Quit Day - 8th July 2009.0 -
ok not food but today bought basics glasses, 99p for 4 as opposed to £4 for 4, they are thick and absolutely fine!
also basics bin bags and kitchen roll do the job0 -
Wish I'd bought more of the Angel Delight type mixes when they were 2p (only got one of each flavour) - noticed today they've gone up to 7p! that's a 350% price hike . OK they still make an incredibly cheap pud, but just doesn't seem as much of a bargain as 2p.0

To be fair to them, they were 7p before they made them 2p, it was a loss leader type promotion so not really fair to say they have hiked the price 350% in this instance.Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
Has anyone else noticed that a big tin of sausages and beans is now cheaper that a normal sized can of beans (27p vs 29p)? It seems absolutely mad that you can save money by getting extra! The sausages aren't amazing but are quite okay, really makes beans on toast into a man-sized meal!0

We loved these, I had a load stashed but with the OH now diabetic I had to give them away...0

Basics Bourbon biscuits - add these to the "superb" list. Beautiful texture and solid cocoa flavour. They could easily market them as Taste the Difference and get away with it (but don't tell them).
Basics Teacakes - add to the "avoid" list. If you served these up for Granny's Sunday teatime visit, don't be surprised if you receive a sharp thwack round the ear with a rolled up People's Friend and told to show a little more respect. Basically (no pun intended) these are just a small soft bap that happened to collide with about 4 sultanas on the production line. They don't even contain a smidgeon of spice!0 -
geoff2 - that was beautifully dscribed!:jFlylady and proud of it:j0

Got a box of the teabags - I am a coffee drinker, but hubby will happily drink them. However Old Aunt who was over for a visit hates them, insists on Yorkshire Tea.
I am going to try the filter coffee, will let you know how I get on.
Son (6 years old) asked why none of our food had pictures on and was orange and white:o. I told him in a proud voice..."Because all the money money we save from buying dearer rubbish goes on his days out so we can have more fun!" He replied "I thought it was because we are poor!!!!" Think I may have to limit the moneysaving talk in front of him :cool:BR date 18/11/090 -
Hi asbestos,
I thought the same orange and white labels and packaging or green and white and red, blue and white meant it was rubbish food and poor quality for poorer people whilst I always went for the TTD range.
Now my thinking has changed completely to this:
It is NOT for poor people, it is NOT poor quality.
The supermarkets and brands suckered me in and bled me dry of money but at least I have learnt my lesson now and changed my thinkingfinal unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550
