It is nice, I was sceptical at first and kept my jar for 2 weeks before opening it. I have to admit though it is no substitute for a takeaway, don't care what anyone says
I will however be buying it again a good cheap meal with some chicken and rice2011 Sealed Pot Challenge #1238 hoping for £250 ~ saved £743.32

The curry sauce is perfectly adequate and even better now it is 4p. I have finally got my colleagues to try the basic tea bags, buy buying them myself when we had run out. Comments. "these tea bags are allright really" 28pAnyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

Hi
Does anyone know of a decent cheap substitute for Lurpak Light. I can down shift most things but am really fussy when it comes to butter.
Thank youI am pleased to give hairdressing help or advice, but a thank you doesn't go a miss.0 -
I've heard Aldi do a very similar product but I've not tried it myself yet. I also would like to know of any others as am very keen on Lurpak.
Also Weetabix type cereal please? I didn't enjoy Bixies from Lidl, purchased a 48 pack and now have 46 left which I may need to feed to the birds...This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I have used the Aldi version of Lurpak and find it quite acceptable. DS will only eat Lurpak but has had Aldi and we have had no comments that it was any different.0

stuffing is good. 15p for a small packet (not sure on size)
I'm not one for reviews - just know what I like0 -
Superb basics:
Tried the Digestive biccies this week - superb! Better than McV's, who have made their recipe "healthier", i.e. dryer, harder, not delicately crumbly like they used to be
Chopped toms - fab - though I note the price seems to creep up weekly, now 35p when used to be 19p not that long ago
Tom K - brilliant, different but as good as Heinz
Ditto Brown Sauce, better than HP, more fruity
Dried milk powder - I use it in the bread machine
Buffalo mozzarella (in whey) - excellent for pizza or mozz/tom salad
Peanut Butter - tasty, crunchy, less fat than the others
Dishwasher tabs - 1.72 for 30, results are perfect. Who are the fools that buy Finish, especially Quantum?!
Young-leaf salad
Carrots
Sweet potatoes
Good Basics
Lettuce - about 50p for a good size romaine or sometimes gem
Wafer-thin ham - a bit dark-coloured but tastes fine
Salad potatoes - though this week they're a bit big, more like jacket pots
Baked beans - not too bad, a bit watery
Kidney beans - fine for chilli, a bit broken for something more visual
Choc - tried it once, OK for cooking
Freezer bags - adequate for the job
Bottled water - 19p for 2L, use it in the iron to avoid limescale
Bad Basics
Tinned sweetcorn - a bit tasteless and chewy
Toothpaste - cheap but no body and dodgy-tasting
Handwash - very jelly-like, doesn't really spread over your hands
Washing-up liquid - too dilute, waste of time
Basics I wouldn't even try
Tea bags - nothing worse than starting the day with a sh*te cuppa. And face it, even good quality tea isn't expensive. I'm on Yorkshire at the mo'.
Ground coffee - too risky
Music CDs - Reproductions of big hit albums, done by studio unknowns, sort of DIY store background music
DVDs - re-enactments of the big movies done by studio unknowns, though I imagine Towering Inferno or Charlie's Angels would be a laugh
(OK, I admit, the last 2 are a complete fabrication)0 -
Geoff2 - the tea bags are actually really good. I was always a bit skeptical thinking they'll be rubbish but they are fab.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

We use the tea bags, they're better than many. I drink a lot of tea0

Plus they are 28p for 80 and Fairtrade- what's to lose in trying them? As a family (there are invariably visiting relatives/friends in our house at any one time!), we are prodigious tea drinkers and use them exclusively now. Savings per year just on tea bags? £70+!Call me Carmine....
