PS The curry sauce is also very low fat compared to most - just 2.8% fat, whereas the Pataks Tikka Masala we have in the cupboard is 7.5%! Recommended, we will get another one now, lol.
Great idea about the pineapple chunks.... might give that a try :T2010 - nothing as we emigrated to Australia!!! :j0 -

Will report my findings later.
I must admit neither did I) Hope it did the job
PS: Checked with the other half & apparently it was only 19p not the extravagant price of 30p as I previously stated :rotfl:2010 - nothing as we emigrated to Australia!!! :j0 -
basics bio washing powder is ok (I've been using it for some time!) but last week I bought a big pack of 3kg. it says 30 average washes..... today I bought another pack same make (basics) and SURPRISE SURPRISE the packet has reduced in size to a 2.4 kg, for the "same amount of money" and still says 30 average washes...Who does the math at Sainsburys?? 600gr less would do les washes, surelly!!!0

Not if the recommended dosage is different - I don't buy it so I can't check (and I've never used the recommended dosage for any washing powder!)."A cat can have kittens in the oven, but that don't make them biscuits." - Mary Cooper

Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose.0 -
i'm now a Sainsburys basics convert :j so far we've had the following and really can't complain
hot chocolate
basics mayo
tuna
brown bread
white chocolate/milk choc :EasterBun
and today the kids had basics jelly (7p) set with basics pineapple (18p) in it :T
love it!!! Noticed the other day they do a chilled cheescake as well0 -
I suppose it was inevitable, but there seem to be some quite large-ish price rises this week. The mushrooms are up 29p! Bananas up 15p. Apples up 11p. Tinned toms up 2p. etc...Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
I was absolutely disgusted with the price of PG tips a while ago so decided to start trying out the basics ranges. Tried Lidl and they were OK, tried Sainsbury's and they are great!
Would love to go back to the flavour of PG, but not to the price! What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
I've been trying more and more from the basics range in recent months, I can't remember everything I have tried but some definite winners are:
ginger biscuits, lush!
shortbread biscuits also lush!
cookies
low fat yogurts
peanuts
peanut butter
mozzarella ball
part baked baguettes
apple pie - really really nice and with actual pieces of apple in and less oversweet mush that many more expensive ones have
beef mince - never had a problem with this at all - less fat that some more expensive sainsbos mince too
toilet roll - at the end of the day you just chuck it down the drain, and I dont like throwing money away
kitchen roll
pitta bread
english muffins
tinned tomatoes - absolute storecupboard staple, no need to spend more on any other brand
baked beans - fine when cooked a little longer on the hob with a little butter
some (for me anyway) non winners:
teabags, not bad but not really strong enough for me, prefer red label (which were half price yesterday so I bought 320 bags!)
veg stock cubes - hard, wont dissolve
On the whole far more products that I will use and use again that those I wont:jLet's get ready to bumble! :rotfl:0 -
Basics Pickled Onions, same as the leading brand if not Better!!
Basics Midget gem sewwts, they are lovely, at I think 23p a packet.
Also the Basics Toilet paper, soft and nice, maybe the roll is smaller but at 41p who cares..a bargin
Have found myself shopping at Sainsburys most days as they seem to be cheaper than Tescos0 -
do most of my shopping at sainsburys - mostly basics
fruit and veg
toilet roll, kitchen roll
store cupboard items - rice, pasta, jam, beans, toms, marmalade, biscuits, crisps, etc
shower gel - this is at the sink in a pump hand wash container
chilled salmon
tinned tuna - fine for sandwiches and pasta dishes
their wholemeal loaf is fine for the kids packed lunches - have a breadmaker but they like the thin slices for school
just logged into e-mails and have won £50 shop with active kids voucher :T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T
had to tell someone - everyone else still in bed:mad:
I never win anything, perhaps I'm having a run of good luck - better pop over to the comps thread
