That reminds me of evenings many years ago.............cheap entertainment regualrly rearringing the pile of bulk buy loo rolls in a friends flat, every bathroom visit would produce a new loo roll sculpture, It became quite competitive!0 -
The Basics tuna has gone up yet again in my local store.
I hate it when that happens!!!0 -
But strangely enough the biscuit selection pack and carrots have gone down in price. As has the Mozzarella ball. Bloody mushrooms are up, though, lol.Call me Carmine....

I'll wait a month or too and try again just in case we got a bad one.
Like many people I am seeing sainsbury's in a new light and have found things like ribena and cereals are on offer when I need them.
On the back of sainsbury's products, you can see whether a product comes from a different supplier. It is the number by the barcode, usually something like B0023 or F0532 - that sort of thing. Most times they are the same, but there are often multiple suppliers for some products.0 -
Add the corned beef slices to the list of recommended products - very thick slices (only 8 in the pack) and probably the best supermarket sliced corned beef we have tasted.Call me Carmine....

Things I've had:
Basics Salmon - very nice but leaves water once cooked, so make sure it's off as the water ruins the taste
Basics Orange Juice - Good but has a kind of creamy taste sometimes
Basics Apple Juice - Didn't like it personally
Basics Weetabix - Think my mum said she had these and said they were grey and no good
Basics Sweetcorn - Think I had this and was very chewy. Wouldn't buy it again
Basics Apples - Small but taste fine
Basics Stir Fry Veg - Fine but must eat quickly as leave horrible creamy coloured water in bottom of bag if left for too long
Basics Tinned Tomatoes - Dad always raves about these
Basics Red Grapes - Very yummy and sweet. Bought different red grapes recently and they're horrid, no flavour or sweetness. Will be buying basics only in the future
Basics Milk and Dark Chocolate - I like them both. The milk one tastes kind of like Christmas tree chocolates lol. Great for cooking. Don't drink anything right before or during eating the dark as the taste disappears
That's all I can think of for now!May Wins: 2 x Beauty Brilliance Multipurpose Highlighter Sticks in pink and gold, Cellulite buster cream, Garnier eye roll-on stuff and James Brown Hair Mask.
Nov/Dec Freebies: Pantene Conditioner, Stay Matte Foundation.0 -

is it not unhealthy? I always thought the poor people ate spam/corned beef?
******************
I dont care if its unhealthy , if I like it I eatit!
And yesyes I am poor !
But not poor enough to eat spam...0 -
Good:
Natural yogurt
Tinned baked beans
Tinned spaghetti
Pasta shapes (a bit chewy but we like it)
Flour
Milk chocolate
Mozzarella ball
Ready salted crisps
Loose basic apples (taste like Pink Lady)
We didn't like the ketchup though. But then we've never eaten Heinz - don't suppose we would have liked that either.0 -
My hairdresser calls this Avalanche food as everything is in a white label!!!
Anyway I buy pretty much everything basics and given that this thread is soooooo long you've probably mentioned most things.
Their sweet popcorn is very nice and only 90 calories for a 20g serving (which is a nice full dessert bowl size) so if you like to chomp whilst watching TV I can recommend this. It's not as sickly as say Butterkist which is thick with sugar but more like cinema popcorn.
The one thing I won't try is the Weetabix. Revolting. Stay well away from.
I use their basics Rice Crispies and value chocolate (yum!) to make rice crispie cakes for the kids. Bargain except I end up eating them all!!!
I noticed yesterday they do a Basics Gin. Now I don't drink Gin but it would be really nice if they did a basics vodka or rumI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
