I tried their contact lenses the other day . My eyes did hurt a bit but I could see the buses coming if not the number or destination.

Went to do an online shop tonight and saw that tinned tomatoes are up again to 36p . I'm getting them from Ald!, they're still 33p there. I'll be glad when my tomato plants start producing :p

I did buy some milk and white chocolate on the recommendations on here, they'll go lovely with the rice pops that no-one wants.

I am buying mostly basic items now, trying to try as many as possible
I cant believe how little my shopping is costing me now! a revelation!

Heres some of the stuff i have tried:

    Baked beans - very good
    chopped tomatoes - very good
Basic soap 3 for 13p !! excellent not heavily scented, which me and my skin do prefer.
Basic Tuna - smaller chunks but very good, perfect for pasta or sandwiches
Basics ginger bIscuits - really nice
Basics peanuts - smaller but excellent tasting and only 27p for a large bag!
Basics Baking potatoes - 55p for 4 -excellent
Basics Milk chocolate -27p 100g This is lovely! I prefer it to the white, which is also nice.

Basic Toilet cleaner - not very good ,smells nice and is nice colour but does not seem to clean very well! also has Formaldehyde in it.

will post my findings when i get round to trying the rest of what i've bought, but so far I am well impressed!! :)

Their grated mild cheese was really quite nice. I usually like stronger cheese but this didn't taste all floury or anything (IYSWIM), and it had that slightly plastic-y quality that makes it really nice on its own.

... I thought I'd share my feedback, having sampled a bottle of Sainsburys 'Hock' at the weekend :D

Its only 21p more expensive than the 'basics' bottles of wine... so I reckon it qualifies for this thread as 'almost basics' range :p

I'd always thought it would be vile ...... however having seen good feedback elsewhere I ventured to buy a bottle .... and it is actually verrrrrry nice .....

I suppose it's lower alcohol content at 9% than some of the more expensive wines, but it's still perceivably alcoholic in taste 'and the slightly lower alcohol content perhaps no bad thing - can drink slightly more before becoming too tiddly ... yum:rotfl:

Have just browsed through this thread sitting here eating Basics Whte Chocolate :o which I've just discovered having seen it mentioned on this thread the other day and now love!

    We currently buy regularly:
    • Dark chocolate for baking (as someone said don't melt in the microwave though - I got sparks too
    • White Chocolate and Strawberry bars
    • Mozzerella Balls are fab - we use them in pasta bakes and in paninis.
    • Smoked Salmon trimmings - OH won't eat fish but I get them and love them for lunch, do 2 days and for 88p a pack can't go wrong.
    • Tortilla Chips - we've bought these for a couple of years having downshifted from Walkers Sensations.
    • Onions - bags for 50p and find they last ages.
    • Bananas are fine but always compare price and appearance to the loose ones.
    • Peppers
    • Teacakes - especially when reduced!
    • Frozen Berry Mix - says new on it and is £1 really good mix of the 4 fruits in mine
    • Plain/Self raising flour - fine - just give it a sieve, which I normally do anyway
    • Dried mixed fruit - not particularly special but fine actually in things I think.
Thanks to this thread I now have a list of things to try and will be buying them next week - it's so annoying we can't get things delivered where we live
