i love the basics range! my favourite staples are things like the baked beans and the chopped tomatoes - the chopped tomatoes are full of tomatoes, rather than all juice!

but my absolute fave right now is the dark chocolate - soooooooo nice! i'm trying to force myself to not buy it again for a while - not very moneysaving to have to buy new trousers because of overeating on the ol' basics choc ;)

    Ditto for the coleslaw
I also tried the potato salad today, this is fine..very nice.

I bought the Basics handwash today 5ooml for 33p
I also bought their own label normal handwash 250ml for 69p
interesting to note that the 69p one contains parabens where the Basics for 33p doesn't !!

Basics orange juice in bottle 56p - I love this!! really nice and not too sweet

Basic Tomato soup in tin 17p - not too bad..thought it tasted a bit oily at first but i chucked in a bit of chilli powder and it was fine

Yes, what surprised us about the coleslaw is we thought it would be runny but it's not at all - packed with chopped vegetables. Excellent. Incidentally, we actually fill the empty handwash bottle with Basics shower gel! :o It's way cheaper and we can't tell a difference. :D

Had a BBQ last night so sampled the Basics savoury rice alongside the Batchelors version. Apart from the colour (the Basics one was paler which suggests less colourings to me) there was no appreciable difference between the 2. Which means we now wont spend more than 28p for savoury rice (Batchelors is almost 100% more costly).

Edit: Forgot to say, also tried the Corn Flakes (46p for 500g, a quarter of the Kelloggs price!) and very very pleasantly surprised. My wife will only ever eat Kelloggs but after tasting mine this morning she's now going to try a full bowl :eek::D Will report back her findings (this will be the REAL test, believe me!!)

    Tried the basics dishwasher tablets.
my OH insisted on still buying a pack of Finish all-singing-all-dancing at the same time.
even he's admitted that the basics ones are just fine.
    And very cheap too.

i also like the basics milk choc for baking
    plain and SR flour
pitta bread and white and wholemeal.
    butter is ok
    tinned tomatoes
I like the basics sweet and sour cookin sauce and the curry one too. they are very cheap

i too changed from asda a couple of years ago and havent looked back since.

i do use the instore butchers for the pork - free range pork and bacon. the bacon can work out cheaper than packets as theres no water in it.

The basics onions, carrots, peppers, bananas, cooking apples, lemons and garlic etc. I eat a lot of basic veg and it all good and cheaper than the usual brand level. I don't mind if it is wonky, small or broken!

I like the basics savory rice, SR and plain flour, milk and dark choccie for cooking and tortilla chips, crisps, popcorn, mozzarella, blue cheese, salmon. The large bottle of thin bleach is ok too and mega cheap but seems to have disappeared from the shelf

Not keen on the rice kispie things

Didn't realise I had changed my habits quite so much over the last year and I've taken the plunge to try the 17p toothpaste (goodness only knows what it will taste like but I'm hoping!)

I hope you're not planning on eating it  :D The toothpaste is minty, fine and dandy - and I'm told contains exactly the amount of fluoride as recommended by the BDA. What more would anyone want from a toothpaste? Their 50p minty mouthwash is perfectly fine as well.
