My sons love them! 36p for a 539g tin. Heinz charge approx a quid for a 440g tin. Billy bargain.

Does anyone find the peppers sometimrd hit and miss? Sometimes you buy the big bag of peppers and they're ok, then other times they stink and start to go off within a few days.

We have them every week and they've been fine so far - the only variable seems to be size and colour. This week we got NINE in the bag, including no less than SIX of the 'rare' red ones . I know it's very sad but we were excited. :o:D

  • I have switched to sainsburys basics now and haven't been to asda for ages. I haven't had anything I haven't enjoyed or used.

My list of stuff to go for is...

    -toothpaste
    -any of the tins...tomatoes etc
-frozen berries at 1 pound which DD makes her own 'ice cream' by whizzing them up with a banana and some orange juice
    -onions
    -salad spuds
    -carrots
-soap (something like 13p for 3 bars!)
    tinned pineapple
    -tinned fruit cocktail
-basics washpowder which I mix 1/2 & 1/2 with soda crystals and sprinkle lavender oil on, our washing is spanking!

I tend to get most things from sainsburys now with top ups from asian supermarket and aldi, our monthly bill is now 250 and we eat well too.

I hope they extend the range :)

Forgot about the bars of soap! Yes, 13p for 3 large soaps and it's great. Seriously, how can Sainsbugs be making any money on these?

My wife also told me she was impressed with the rubber gloves - 50p for 2 pairs - not as thick as Marigold of course but perfectly fine and a fraction of the price...

Basics tea imo is so so right...t he Sainsburys ones are fairtrade, only 28p and almost as good as Tetley. I tried these on flatmate and he didnt notice I'd swapped.

Agreed. Everyone i know who has blind-tested the tea on members of their family has reported the same result - not one comment, adverse or complimentary. Result being these people now see no reason to pay more than 28p for 80 tea bags! The fact that it is, incredibly, also Fairtrade is the icing on the cake.

The toothpaste is 17p for 75ml, has a minty taste and exactly the amount of fluoride as recommended by the BDA (or so I read somewhere). What's to dislike? It's a toothpaste. It does its job. I don't eat it. :D
