Methinks he exaggerates somewhat? I have bought the basics loo rolls and must say that it was of a considerably higher standard than the stuff they used to stock the kids loos with during primary and secondary school ..
Clearly some folks out there have very delicate little bottoms :rotfl:
Only thing is it doesn't last as long, so for me buying higher quality works out same cost.0 -
Yeah the bog rolls are Ok but just don't last very long. I also remember the hard tracing paper that used to be supplied at school...AND we had outside loos - people don't know when they got it easy...

Whilst I am a fan of basics foods I have found some items cheaper at Farmfoods today, tins of tuna 45p a tin (55p in Sainsburys) & 1 Litre cartons of fresh orange or apple juice are 2 for £1.00 (56p each in Sainsburys). I bought some Tuna today so will try it out soon but didn't get the juice as I had already bought some from Home Bargains earlier (3x 1L cartons of orange juice Del Monte is £1.49 at the moment)2023 wins - Rice Krispies, Avene Micellar Gel, Barbie Toy, £20 Apple Gift Card, KFC 6 piece bargain bucket, Chloe Nomade perfume, Barbie Toy (second one), Sanctuary Spa Sleep Balm, E45 Moisturising Lotion, Trolls Hamper, 12 Tonie Characters, Sure deodorant, Good Home Utensil holder, £5 Costa Gift Card, Neutrogena Micellar Jelly, Soap & Glory Mascara, Persil capsules,0

the only basic I wouldn't recommend is the clothes pegs. I bought some 3 days ago. They are really small and not strong enough, a couple have already broken.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

I give this to my cat as a treat every now and then, she loves it. and at 29p it's not to expensive
can u give putty cats tins of tuna in brine? Mine goes bananas whenever she smells tuna, but i would worry about the salt levels in it, even with having drained it?
So, I tend to buy the tuna in spring water which i hope is better for cat and I ... but is kind of expensive ... for cat it's an occasional treat. maybe draining the cheaper brine tuna then giving it a bit of a rinse in water is the answer?
Mind you, for all i know, your bog standard tin of cat food could contain just as much salt ... and I could just be an over-anxious cat owner0 -
We are now up to 80 items (including vodka, wine and cider, hic) in our slow-burning Sainsbury Basics Mega Online Order (TM). We keep adding stuff that gets recommended on here as we are in no rush for this stuff. We've done it on mysupermarket so we can gauge the prices of the 'same' basket at the competition. I must say the results are very surprising (we always thought Sainsburys was expensive albeit good quality stuff).
Sainsburys £58.81
Tesco £74.08
Asda £74.38
Ocado £127.72 :rotfl:
Very interesting development. The savings would appear to be significant.Call me Carmine....

I'm not keen on the Basics bourbon biscuits. They are custard cream shape and the cream inside is really soft and not very chocolatey. I much prefer the tesco value ones.0
