Just in case you weren't aware, the fruit varies according to what's in season and the size varies according to what's available. In the past fortnight or so, I think I've had royal gala, golden delicious, cox and granny smith.0 -
basics red wine - very nice i thought
basics scotch pancakes - not much different to the regular own brand ones, nice with a blob of honey on top
basics snack slection (aka wotsits, onion rings and chipsticks) - prefer these to the branded ones as the flavour isnt as strong0 -
The scampi fish bites are great. You can find them in the frozen section, and contain about 12 average per pack. However they have gone up from 99p to £1.19 in a week!
Their small basic loo rolls have also gone up this week to 60p instead of 55p! Cookies now 43p rather than 40p. So just keep an eye on the prices before you put in the trolley.
I must admit I've not been in Sainsbury's for a while and popped in at the weekend to stock up on their own brand products and was shocked at how much the prices had gone up. (E.G. Custard Creams were 30p now 45p up 50%) I know it's not just Sainsbury's it's across the board but when counting the pennies it all adds up.0 -
The basics shower gel has been out of stock at my local Sainsburys for awhile, so long in fact I thought they had discontinued it. So when I saw it at the weekend I grabbed 3 bottles - still 10p a bottle, but they must have changed the supplier. The bottle is better, the old ones sometimes leaked and its easier to get the right amount out now (no losing big globs down the plughole) but as for the product itself - what a chemical pong it has about it. Beginning to regret stocking up now.We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0

Bought basics fizzy orangeade, fizzy water, milk buttons, meat tortellini, today
orangeade is okay -lacks a bit of flavour, but for the price, it's something i'm going to accept.
not tasted the rest yet!Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500
Debt payments 2012 £433.270 -
The basics Olives, Humous and tortilla chips are my fave. Brilliant for a cheap impromptu nibbles night.
Also the basics biological washing liquid is great for washing things like curtains, coats etc. as it's only £1 for about 8 washes.
Have to say I wasn't too keen on the scotch pancakes, thought they were a bit squidgy :-/0 -
Their own brand energy drink (Blue Bolt, I think it's called) is nice. 44p per can, so not loads cheaper than some of the other brands to be fair, but it's nice all the same.0

Tried the basics orangeade and found it too tasteless so upgraded to sainsburies own. Its still cheaper than the branded one and tastes better :-)2013 Free Money - £363.44 Topcashback

2015 Free Money (so far) - £186.33 Topcashback0 -
I love the basics vegetable burger (4-pack for £1). A lot of vegetarian options are meat imitation, which I don't like the taste of, so it's nice to find a burger made from vegetables. It's a mix of potato, green beans, sweetcorn, peas, and carrots. Very nice on a floury roll with some salad. Can't say I shop at Sainsbury's much, but I always go out of my way to go in and stock up on these delicious burgers.0

their value bread has definitely gone down hill. brought some on Wednesday and by yesterday (Fri) it had gone mouldy. I know it's cheap but really!! will take it back tomorrow when I shop!
their basics coffee granules are absolutely disgusting, don't even go there, and their basics tortilla chips are sooo greasy. sure there are some more but can't think for now.0
