Don't bother with the Basic's After Sun lotion - it's like pouring water on the skin. It sits there in puddles waiting to be evaporated off. It is so watery.

Are the crisps nice? Need to get some bits tonight, and if possible will make it an all basics shop! OH is a brand snob though, so if the crisps aren't good will need to give them a miss!

The basics ready salted are nice. If you buy the multipacks you will find they are very small bags and one bag "won't touch the sides!! "
  • Basic biscuits, cereal and other packaged foods i have switched to are as good as the brands!

The only thing iv found bad was a pack of 6 yogurts for about 40p, they were so watery it made me sick!

Not sure if these have been mentioned:

I tried the sainsbury basics angel delight and it was lovely.

I also tried the vegetable soup, I didn't like it.

Chocolate mousse and creme caramel both lovely.

Love this thread as very useful to know the good and the bad so thanks everyone.

Sainsburys Basics Italian Grated Hard Cheese - Good - does anyone know how long this keeps for? At uni me and my flatmates used to buy one of these to share and it lasted about 4 weeks...cheap and gorgeous to sprinkle on most things. Now its just me and my partner, was wondering how long this would keep in the cupboard for?

I'll also second Sainsbury Basics Angel Delight!

The scampi fish bites are great. You can find them in the frozen section, and contain about 12 average per pack. However they have gone up from 99p to £1.19 in a week!

Their small basic loo rolls have also gone up this week to 60p instead of 55p! Cookies now 43p rather than 40p. So just keep an eye on the prices before you put in the trolley.

I agree with gillian62 about the aftersun lotion - horrible stuff. But the sunscreen is very good. SPF 15 (I think they do a SPF 25 as well) it's a light lotion with a mild coconut smell that absorbs well and works a treat. It's also 5 star UVA, so even better.
