Just bought a pack of Basics fresh tomatoes (70p). I could see they were all different sizes which is fine, but when I opened the pack half of them feel all soft and squishy. Disappointing.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

  • can i just ask, is there a version of this thread for morrisons etc?

Hiya, the only things I've come across that I won't buy again is the pickle (meant to be like Branston) which just has a horrible taste

I like it, it is great for the price.

If you see a basics product that you want to try, larger morrisons may have something similar in their value range, so may be worth a hunt.

Some great seasonal fruit available in the Basic range at the mo...

    Strawberries £1
    Blueberries £1
    Cherries £1.50
    Red and White Grapes £1.50

But you have to hit your store early as they seem to disappear fast.

All excellent value and taste good - esp the strawberries.

Regularly buy the curry sauce for 9p just to heat in the microwave to pour on my chips - cheaper and nicer than the chippy (throw the rest away)

    Mayo good value for 38p,
    Baked beans
Spanish Red Wine £2.50 fine for cooking
Mushrooms 85p for 400g (ok if you don't mind a bit of elbow work cleaning them)
    Scotch Egg 31p
    Garlic Bread 79p for 2
    Food Bags 54p
    Full Flavour Cheddar 3.74

IMO Sainsburys win hands down in the basic/value ranges Tesco are a long way behind in both quality, price and range.

The basic curry sauce is lovely, we usually have it with turkey and chips after Christmas lol.
When my Ds2 worked in Sainsburys a guy from the local chinese
takeaway place used to come in and buy loads of it

Had some Basics Tortilla chips yesterday that I shared with a friend. Had to bin the packet with a third remaining as these remaining chips were coated in salt.
