Gawd. How much are the 4packs of bogrolls ? And I buy loads of that honey annie, not happy !!

4 for 55p but they are 200 sheet rolls and the six pk is 400 sheets I think, thrown the pkt away now they are stuffed under the sink unit.

I couldn't believe the rise in price of honey I use loads too, not a happy bunny:mad:

I like their muffins, breakfast juice, fruit& fibre, loo rolls.

Not so great - wet wipes far too 'wet' for my liking, fruit & veg tend to go off very quickly.

Also not basics but they do beef shin - hard to find and great in slow cooker

I'm a long time 'lurker' on this thread, but I can tell you that the basics 'cinema sweet' popcorn is fabulous...it's just like the popcorn at the cinema. :D

Also, the Basics French Dressing was reduced from 70p to 18p in my store yesterday. I have never tried it, but got a couple of bottles in to give it a go.

Hehe when I know i'm going to the cinema, I always buy some of this and put some of it into a little bag and smuggle it into the cinema with me...it's yum and soooo much cheaper!

Has anyone bought toilet paper recently? I was sure there's only one pack size but today I bought a 4 roll pack (and the rolls look smaller and thinner) instead of my usual 6 roll pack. I couldn't see another size in the aisle. Was it out of stock or has the product actually changed size?

I work for Sainsburys and the warehouse we stock our own label toilet roll, tissues and kitchen roll was on fire last week. Could be something to do with it. I work in a small store and already 1 line of kitchen rolls is oos and something else we are running out of.
  • Hi everyone! enjoyed reading this thread...thanks for all the posts and tip offs! one thing I will say is that their basic Raspberry sponge cake (might be called victoria sponge, cant quite remember) is delicious and only 60-ishp! bargain....and its cake!

Basics Kent Strawberries £1 for 250g are in store now, odd shapes, but excellent value.

Yes bought the strawberries last week, lovely. Think I'll get a few and make jam, cheaper than PYO.

I have been trying a few things every week in a bid to save some pennies.

So far everything has been good!

Basics Tortilla chips 50p for a big bag
Basics salsa 69p for a jar (nice on the tortillas with some cheese!)
Basics soft spreading cheese (like philly) 45p
Basics fromage frais 6 for 44p (better than petit filous as less sugar)
Basics crisps are fine and ready salted have no preservatives etc in. Just potato, oil and salt.
Cereal bars are fab and I find the fruit is generally pretty good. The apples are smaller galas which is ideal for my kids, bananas are fine. Last pack I had there was 13 bananas in it for just over £1
Basics garlic bread for 45(?)p in the fresh aisle is nice as well.
Basics orange and summer fruits squash are also fab and aspartame free :)
