Despite the "shrinkage". The Basics washing powder is good value. I only use a heaped tablespoon of powder per wash so it lasts ages, though obviously not as long as it did! Also it has only a very slight scent - my male-dominated household objects to their washing smelling too girly!"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0

Basics oat and raisin cereal bars. Not overly sweet like almost all others, big juicy raisins, not hard but easy to eat...I love them, have one every day for a mid morning snack at work! HIGHLY recommendedMoneysaver and proud0

Their basic coffee is rubbish tho.:( Thanks to all competition posters :beer:0

Their basic Instant Mash and tinned sliced mushrooms are not too bad. Especially when both goes into a Shepherds pie. Can't tell the difference :j0

Basics Raisin fruit slab cake is a huge hit the the OH.
I agree. Nice as it is but it's even nicer warmed gently in the microwave and served in big slices with custard! A lovely quick and easy pud."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
I can't wait to try Sainsburys basics. After a long land grab battle in Slough, Sainsburys finally got round to building a new supermarket 100 yards from a hugh Tesco, and it's about half way built. Tesco seems to have gone off the boil of late. They only gave me a single 20 point voucher and some money off vouchers in my recent clubcard statement, and one of them was for some fruit and herbal teabags! That killed it for me. I'm going to wait until they send me my christmas savers money vouchers, my clubcard vouchers for the year, and when I have spent them I'm off to Sainsburys. Tesco have lost it. Had a good run though.0

tried their basics teabags, 18 or 28p for 80? Think the latter. Anyway their not half bad, I did a blind taste test and I admit I preferred PG tips(we stock up in the 1000's when it's on offer, like £3 for a 240 box in Iceland now, so we got 6 boxes haha!), however for the price it really isn't bad, needs a bit more time in the cup as it's a bit weaker but perfectly ok, 28p for 80 teabags, really can't complain.
Oh and their basics fresh orange juice is great.
Basics chocolate isn't bad, though I found a went off it after a while unlike others, milk chocolate is a bit less milky then other brands, closer to plain chocolate, reminded me of the kind of chocolate you get in Easter eggs tbh. Good for melting down to make a sauce though. 27p per 100g I think.0 -
Sainsbury's Basics corned beef is really nice and great value - 8 slices for £1.50 from the chiller cabinet, doesn't taste like a 'value' product at all and the slices are really thick - much better than the packs of 4 flimsy slices you get anywhere else for 99p or so. I love corned beef sarnies for lunch at work so this was a great find for me!
Also Basics fruit scones are nice too, quite small and a little too floury, but lashings of butter/cream and jam soon sorts that, and at 35p for 10 they are cheap as chips.
Always used to think Sainsbury's was really expensive, but have since my workplace moved near one I've been a regular customer and as well as the Basics range, some of the offers they have are fantastic - got a whole free-range duck half price at Easter, £7 instead of nearly £15! :money:
It was gorgeous too, roasted in the oven til the skin went crispy and then had it with pancakes and plum sauce Chinese style, beautiful!0 -
I discovered the Basics cartons of juice - apple or orange at £1.14 for 9 cartons! Similar to the 3 packs for the other ranges
Ideal to take for days out and I've started taking them as a drink for lunch at work. I like them as they're not too sweet and it's cheaper than me nipping into Mr T's at lunchtime for a bottle of fanta for 65p or then buying 2 for £1
Nice result
Also found the Basics tinfoil to be spot on, I only use it to wrap up salad and veg in the fridge and it was only about 30p for a roll with no cardboard inner, thought I'd give it a try and it's finefinal unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -
Noooo! Basics tissues have gone up! Were 27p now are 35p. Not a massive increase but does make them more expensive then Tesco.0
