I was only young then, so I didn't have the courage to ask.
Now I ask people what they would prefer when they come to our home. .......
My OH is from the south and he always puts vinegar in our jar of mint sauce! I'd never had mint sauce till i met him, i thought everyone did it lolAnnual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500

Bag of Basics pears, 80p for five fruit so not particularly cheap, but very nice. Been waiting for them to go softer but last night I sliced one with a knife and it was actually quite ripe and sweet, despite still feeling hard on the outside.

SW here, but still put vinegar and sugar in mint sauce.
Probably because I remember my Mum making it from scratch - finely chopped mint with a tsp of sugar, a splash of boiling water, then steeped in vinegar. Made hours in advance to bring all the flavours out. Loathe the stuff myself, but OH (Londoner) and kids love it."Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0 -
just had basics camembert with basics crackers washed down with basics tropical juice, all 3 fab
Also like the pasta salad that you get for a quid0 -
also the scones are fantastic- 10 for 35p, smaller than usual but taste just as good0

I notice their Basics bacon has gone up from £1.20 to £1.45 in the last couple of weeks
. That's about a 20% increase, so although not as bad as the yoghurts still a bit of a cheek.

Oddly enough, some value products can be better. They 'cheat' by leaving out things like excess sugar!"Never underestimate the mindless force of a government bureaucracyseeking to expand its power, dominion and budget"Jay Stanley, American Civil Liberties Union.0
