PP- hope the interviewing went well and wooo for the lift. fingers crossed for your bathroom... if i get stuck... can i come be your cleaner ;)
  • Hi everyone,
I have been lurking a lot recently but only late at night, Im trying not to go anywhere near the computer during the day as I dont manage to get any jobs done if I do!
Have been trying to be as Old Style as I can, have done lots of baking, which I have discovered is not cost effective! If I buy biscuits they last a week, if I make fairy cakes, I can guarantee 15 of them will be eaten within an hour. Im hoping when I return to work in September and the family return to shop bought stuff they will decide they can take the drop in income to have a raise in standard of food to eat!

Have been doing as much food shopping at Aldi as poss, I love their stuff, its excellent quality. I bought a massive chicken for £1.90 last week and we had a roast dinner, chicken and bacon pizzas, three rounds of sandwiches and a pint of stock out of it, when you compare that to the bags of chicken breasts I was buying before at £5.99 a throw its amazing.

Ive been having a massive "spring" clean and sort out, looking for a new job (no luck so far :( ) and sorting out my ebay stuff, OH has done lots in the garden and has dug me a nice veggie patch, I wanted it a bit bigger but its not too bad. Im going to miss all this when I go back to work, my DD's friends moms are saying, "only a couple of weeks left, thank god" but I love being at home, and DD's are being really good. :A
DD1 won a Mendhi kit at school so we have been designing patterns and she is going to do my feet later, and DD2's hands, hopefully it will have faded off before they go back to school.
Now Im off to sort out a paypal account so any buyers can pay by paypal instead of cheque etc which was how I was doing it before.
Enjoy the rest of the evening everyone.

  • Hello everyone

Feeling very happy today since it's Friday which means it's NEARLY THE WEEKEND! Hurrah!

Got up early and put a ratatouille in the slow cooker. Have been a bit 'experimental' with the ingredients trying to use up what was in the fridge so have bunged all sorts in there. Goodness knows what it is going to taste like but I'm the only one who will have to suffer the results so never mind!

Am going to try and get all the housework done this evening so I have a clear day tomorrow for sewing and getting on with some Christmas present making.

    Good morning Katie

Its a very wet morning here, but as OH and I spent and industrious afternoon in the garden yesterday I don't mind. The lawns and hedge are cut and we have weeded all round.

Youngest daughter and her friend got the A level results they wanted yesterday and were out celebrating last night ... dancing the hours away. I'm really pleased for them.

Today I'm just pottering - OH plans to do the paperwork. I may just nip round the charity shop to see if there are any recipe books I don't have :D

Edit: Good morning rnshon ...
Enjoying an MSE OS life :D

    :hello: Morning everyone :hello:

Congratulations to everyone receiving their A-level results!

Well, as has already been pointed out: IT'S FRIDAY! Wooohoooo! Ok, so I haven't exactly been working this week, but I have been trying to do housework (failing miserably :wall: ). Still got stacks of ironing to do though and I'm finding more and more things to take to the car boot sale - hopefully they'll sell!

I've found a few houses to phone up about, which is exciting. We're looking to move at the end of September, so hopefully we'll get something sorted soon. The car boot sale has an ulterior motive of trying to lessen our junk that we can take to our new house and give us a bit more space! Fingers crossed.....

Anyway, I'll let you folks get on with your day. Have a good one.

    Good morning all

Was so ashamed of everyones early postings over the last few days that I thought I'd make the effort and get up this morning.

Working this afternoon but need to have a good blitz through the house this morning, DH is on holiday for 2 weeks as of 5pm and I won't get much done without him walking 2 steps behind undoing all the things i've just done.....I'm sure you all know the score!

Plan for this morning......strip and air all beds, I've only got half a load of washing at the moment so seems like a good plan to get the beds done. Need to scrub the kitchen worktops and give the floor a good going over. Dust and hoover all through. (Handy living in a bungalow - it's much easier to hoover the entire house). No need to sort dinner tonight as we're off out to our fav. pub for a "congratulations on the promotion" dinner....DD's are coming with us and i've promised to paint their nails later so they look grown up.

Off to the local town carnival tomorrow night with free firework display afterwards.......I'm liking the free stuff!! Saturday and Sunday DD's have been invited to parties so I won't need to do tea for them, means DH and I can just pick at any left overs in the fridge....

Going to make an inventory of the freezer later too - it desperately needs defrosting and I want to try not to buy anything for it until after our hols.....in fact I think I'll be able to get away with just milk and fruit for 2 weeks, got a stack of end's of packets of frozen veg....I know they're not as nice as fresh but in an effort not to waste things I'll grin and bear it. Got loads of flour and baking ingredients in.......still got loads of biscuits I bought at the beginning of the summer hols too in case I couldn't keep up with DD's requests.....they've shunned them tho in favour of freshly baked fridge biscuits or cookies or HM bread....well trained!

Had a load more stuff finish on ebay yesterday -- with my 2 lots of auctions this week we've cleared £230.... very impressed :j :j ..just got to work out where's best to use it now....I'm looking at snowballing some debts....need to start making some big dents and DH's payrise will certinally help.

Hope you all have a wonderful friday.......

Morning all. Congrats to all those who got the results they needed yesterday!

I had a laugh last night - When I got back from Asda and packed DD off upto her room for a rest I sat down to go through my bill from Asda and I noticed 3 pricing mistakes ;) When OH got in at 5pm I went back down to Asda with the mistakes highlighted, double checked that I was right (I was being harrassed by DD when I did the shopping so it was possible that I had made a mistake) but I had indeed been over charged on 3 items. Went to customer Service where they checked the displays and confirmed that I had been over charged, the lady then put through a refund which reads "-£1.07-£1.07+£0.98+£0.98+£0.78" coming to 53p. She gave me 55p and then a £2 voucher as an apology :rotfl: SO I didn't pay for a loaf of Kingsmill and I got another £2 :D I quickly went and looked around the reduced items while I didn't have DD in tow (got a phonecall from OH in the meantime who was just letting me know that DD wouldn't get up she just wanted to sleep and that as a result he was putting a pizza in :D). Anyway I picked up a blub planter (reduced to 25p), a weeding fork (reduced to 75p), a cultivator instead of a hoe (reduced to 49p), two whiteboard markers (88p) and a new Smartprice vegetable knife (48p) which came to £2.85 - so Asda paid me to take away 3 gardening hand-tools, a veg knife and I only paid 85p for the markers which when you take the 55p the girl gave me back, actually cost me 32p :money: And OH had said it wasn't worth walking all the way back to query being overcharged by 25p :D

Not much planned for today - some washing up (just the breakfast dishes, a grill pan which has been soaking in bicarb and boiled water overnight, plus a sandwich toaster which has been there since Saturday :o - How OH has got away with not washing it on Sunday I don't know  ), some more laundry, cleaning and ironing - okay so maybe I do have a busy day ahead

Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!

EEEH Vicky were moving late sept too, weer not moving in together are we? *scratches head* :rotfl:

Ive got an interview with a bloke from the college today to see if i will be accepted to do the advanced qualifications for my job. Hope so as ive had a look at the course and i should be able to BREEZE through it. Its work based too so i could have it done in a week cuz i have NO work to do. lmao!

Treating OH to a takeaway tonight as he has had a !!!!!! week on late shifts, and i need to soft soap him into taking me to Barter Books in Alnwick.

Been applying for jobs and looking for houses and thats the tasks for the rest of the working day pretty much.

By boots parenting club vouchers arrived yesterday so im going to go and claim some nice freebies cuz ive been down in the dumps about work so it should cheer me up. And Shelleys have a sale on with some LUSH shoes for £5. im so tempted. I bought myself a bag yesterday but its reversible so 2-4-1 and it was reduced from £49 to £7. i *had* to buy it. I have to take the pretty pink top i got in asda the other day back as there is a tiny hole in it... i just hope they have more tops in the "pleasantly plump" size i want. knowing my luck, they wont :(

    Hello everyone

I know I'm on my hols but I'm a my friend's house in Kent (where's it's raining) She's still in bed with a hangover, but the menfolk are downstairs - her DH has washed up and hoovered :D Mr TM is being suitably allergic to the cat and sitting there looking sorry for himself :) We catch the 5pm shuttle so me and girlfriend intend to do a bit of last minute shopping today :D

Even though it's my birthday and we had a BBQ last night (sort of party) I'm completely sober on account of the fact I know I can't drink past 9pm and be anywhere alive the next day. Also, I shall be doing most of the driving. Oh, and DS1 says I'm still 23. I tried to tell him I must be 24 now, but he's not having it :) I still am in my 20's though - I'm 20-22 today :D:D

So, completely non-OS day for me today and roll on the sunshine in the south of France :D See ya in about 10 days.

    Love

    TM
