  • Morning All

A bad night last night, but the rain makes my body/bones worse so slept on the sofa as I couldnt make it up the stairs...thank goodness the stair lift will be done soonish.

Anyway...the cleaners I interviewed. I had 8 lined up for the past 2 days and only 3 turned up. No calls to let me know..nothing  I think I have found a one, she is older about 50'ish, my list didnt faze her (its not that bad..lol). I have a reference I have to call, which is a cleaning company and have to speak to one of either 2 people. She has also posted me written refs as she forgot them. She has bought 3 properties in the past and has done them up and on for a profit-so she is used to cleaning and hardwork. A Non smoker, no kids to worry about for childcare, close with her daughter-she bought them up by herself, will accept cheques as payment and can do friday mornings 10-1. Is there anything else you think would be important to know? Another lady came and she was awful and the lady who came yesterday was OK but didnt seem very keen.

Jobs to do today: 20min blitz, 2 washloads maybe dried in TD as its rainy here again today, bedding washed and put back on, OH doing some more of DD room, clearing off top of his wardrobe (god knows what he has up there) and im going to make the banana teabread today. FIL is doing me some bread pudding..yum yum.

Anyway, have a good day everyone. Im going to try and rest today as last 2 days have really knocked it out of me.

    Hi everyone,

The lady sounds perfect PP. Hope you get a much needed rest today. It's already the afternoon here. I've had a bit of an OS day today. Made my first batch of powdered laundry detergent. Can't wait to wash tomorrow now. :j I made a apple roly poly with some HM custard for dessert tonight. I also did some sewing. DH has a touch of the flu so is moping around the house like a wet week. :p Hope you all have a nice day.

PS. It's lovely weather here, warm & sunny :D
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

  • Morning everyone,

PP - your lady sounds brilliant - send her round here when she's finished!

Well house is clean (or clean enough!) so today I'm having a craft day. Planning to make a vast pile of Christmas cards for both giving and selling.

Am hoping the rain holds off here as I have persuaded a friend to come round and paint my fence for me in return for lunch and a small donation. Looking a bit gloomy but no rain so far. Fingers crossed.

    :hello: Morning all :hello:

It's an ok day here today (ie it's not raining!) in comparison to yesterday where it just rained all day. We're hoping for fine weather for the weekend as we're doing a car boot sale tomorrow. As it's in a field, the weather can be quite crucial as to how many people turn out and buy my high quality items. We're getting rid of all our videos, which is quite heart wrenching especially as one of them is Pretty Woman (surprised it still works the amount of times I've watched it! :rotfl:).

Today we're going for a drive to the place that we're hopefully moving to. It's about an hour's drive from where we are at the moment - but so many more job opportunities for me around there. OH will have to commute to work, but he's not fussed as there are far more job opportunities for him too when he's had enough of commuting. :D I've got a couple of (rental) properties to look round on Tuesday, so fingers crossed we see something that we like.

Tonight we'll be having ostrich burgers (in freezer from Farmers' Market), new potatoes and salad. Yum, yum. With fruit as pudding. However, we've still got some ice cream to use up, and it IS a Saturday. :D

    Have a good day.

    Morning everyone

The cleaning lady sounds lovely Penny Pincher. Sorry to hear most of the interviewees didn't turn up. What happened to manners? A simple phone call would have been polite and not had you waiting.

Today is overcast but not raining. I too am hoping for a dry weekend ... I'm one of those car boot buyers who doesn't like to be knee deep in mud

I'm still on holiday for another week .. so I'm still chilling out, just doing a bit at a time and enjoying life.

Made buns yesterday and most of them are gone. OH actually took one off me as I removed them from the hot baking tray.

OH put new tyres and inner tubes on our bikes last night. He has this strange idea that I need to do more excercise  He's probably right.
I may need to lie down later on if he insists I go on a bike ride today.
Enjoying an MSE OS life :D
  • Hi Again

Well, we had another call from a lovely local lady at 8.30am so asked her to come up and she did and ive just offered her the job :j She was older (70..lol)but very active and great refs. She has worked in 1 job for 24 years and the other 18. She is just after some pocket money and was suggesting jobs that I hadnt even thought of  I went with my gut feeling and am happy at my choice. She works in a charity shop 2 mornings a week and is just bored and wants to keep her brain going :T

What do people think? She is going to go to the local tax office and register as SE. She said that she is already taxed on her pensions, so would she be taxed on this small amount each week? Said she didnt mind but will feel guilty as she said its just pocket money. Anyone know?

    Thanks

    Penny-Pincher!!

    Good morning all

Went for a lovely meal last night...still feeling full.

DH is on holiday but has just "popped" into the office.....do they ever switch off????

DD's are driving me crazy, they're off to parties this afternoon tho so can go use up all their energy. Supposed to be off to the local carnival tonight but it's drizzly at the moment so will have to see how it pans out.

I need to sit and rework our budget after DH's payrise.....On first glance it should bring our debt free date forward by 2 years...just need to sit and balance the figures.

Am determined not to spend anything today - dinner last night was less than expected and was do'able because I've not done big shops for the past 2 weeks so there was money in the pot. We're off to inlaws house next week while they are away on hols...going to use theirs as a base and do some days out, just need to look on all the other various boards to see if I can get some BOGOF entries. Planning on making up some meals this week and freezing them down to take with us rather than worry about doing a shop when we get there or using up their ingredients. Would be nice to have a few days off cooking too.

Ebay stuff has all been posted today - just waiting for 2 people to pay....grrrrrrr would have been nice to get it all out the way and the money transferred from paypal...but never mind.

PP - Well done for getting sorted with your "lady" it's always best to go with your gut feelings.....you can see she's been reliable in her other jobs too with the length of service...hope it all works out well for you.

    Have a good one all

    Morning All,

On my third load of washing. As we had central heating upgraded last week. And we have chipboard floors up stairs so dust everywhere.

Think I will be cleaning it up for weeks.

And I have not even started on the washing from what we actually wore last week. The washing I have done so far is stuff that covered in dust.

Nicely hike up my water bill (as we are on meter) and leccy bill. Hey ho only money I suppose and is nothing compared to the cheque that will have to be sent off to pay for having the work done.

Oh the joys of owning your own home.

Might have to nip in to town to buy a skein of cross stitch thread later if I don't have any matching in my stash.

    Yours

    Calley

Up early, another bad night making tea at 4.15......

Another load of washing out on the line, want to iron this afternoon so I can start putting clothes out for the caravan.

Quick visit to B & Q for some foam pipe lagging needed a short piece for the rail in the caravan wardrobe to top the hangers coming off when we tow the van, fed up with picking up crumpled clothes when we get on site.

Checked and packed a box of food for the van.........we take quite a bit with us so I have more cash to spend on goodies to bring home, i.e bottles of wine, although we will be looking at wine boxes, they can work out cheaper than buying bottles and are lighter too.

DH cutting the grass and tidying up the garden generally, we have taken all the plums off the tree will be making a crumble and freezing the rest, apples should be ok whilst we are away......

About to go and do something about some lunch, home made bread and cheese I think, we were at a do last week, whilte stilton with apricots was one of the cheeses, I was given what was left........... lucky me!!!!! have cut it up and frozen some, the rest we are eating yummy............ very LBYM.

PP..... glad you have sorted out your cleaning lady, I wish I had one!!!
