Second day in a row I've managed to get back on here. The workload seems to be easing a bit at last thank goodness.
Nice OS dinner tonight - portion of chilli from the freezer (well stretched with plenty of mixed beans and chopped courgette from the garden), with rice, tomatoes and runner beans - again from the garden, the first of the year, can't wait to taste them. A bit of an odd mix perhaps, but hey, it's healthy.
This evening I plan on sorting out stuff to do a carboot sale on Sunday (weather permitting), to boost our sponsorship funds for the cycle ride we're doing in October.0 -
Hi everyone,i havnt been around all week as ive had friends staying and my budget for august has vanished but not to worry as ive had a great week.
Going to start all over again in september with the pin money challenge.
Hope everyone is fit and healthy.0 -
Hello all - a late start for me....
Got some more ebay stuff listed and photographed this morning, had to work this afternoon so combined working with a quick trip to Sainsburys. Feeling very broke this week so took all our penny jar to the machine instore and ended up with a voucher for £10ish. Picked up some bits for a picnic tomorrow and a bottle of wine to relax with.
Homemade chilli and wedges tonight - lovely they were too. Hopefully off to legoland tomorrow - but friend who's driving isn't feeling too good today - so might just end up at the beach.
Ebay stuff listed last week has just topped £55.....very pleased!
Hope you all had a good day."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
johanne wrote:Not having such a great day... yesterday i was informed i wasnt on the electoral roll (which i find bizzarre as had credit checks done on me in the past and voted - but apparently according to the estate agent nothing to do with voting huh?
) So had to provide proof of address and also told work hadnt produced my reference. So had to go into to work specially to ask for one - to be told the person who could do them was off - but wages could possibly do one on her behalf but it will be tonight before i can get it.
Jo,
There are two version of the electoral register and edited and unedited one. The edited one goes to libraries and post offices etc so just any one can look at it.
And then there is the unedited one. I am on the unedited one but not the edited one. As I was not very happy thinking that any tom !!!!!! or harry could go and look me up. I know I am in the phone book. But I was just not happy with it. I know I am strange.
I assume the EA only has access to the edited one so would not have found you on that. If you had opted out.
Yours

I can't believe it's 9am and there's no OS Friday thread yet, you're all 4 hours later than usual
I'm sitting at work, on the net as usual. Best job ever, get around 30 calls each day and have nothing else to do!
One of my friends is coming down for the weekend, so hopefully girlfriend will have the house nice and tidy when I get home as I'm going to pick my friend up straight from work.
Other than that, made a huge chilli con carne last night and left it to cool to put in the freezer in individul portions.
What's everyone else up to?0 -
Skiving at work too, Done some budget planning, taken some new orders for hair extensions, browsed some nwe houses and have done a party plan.

I agre with tr3mor - such a sparse post for 09.47- where us everyone? Had quite a thrifty night last night - OH is working at home today (see my other thread, ahem!) so mad me low fat cheese omlette and low fat noodles or tea - yum! As today is Friday tonight is fish night, and in this case I think we will have cod in parsley sauce, potatoes and veg - yummy!!!
Not much OS today - at work as usual and doing some brain melting trend analysis )the bulk of my job) - fun but hard! Still, working through lunch so I can leave at 3.30 and be home by 4 - yay!!!
Nothing OS planned for the weekend, except surviving until pay day on Monday. Have a fab one all!!Kirsty, Taunton, xxx0 -
Morning,
I'm just getting ready to go to the lakes for a few days YEY!!
We're aiming to get there for about 1 o'clock cos you can't book onto the National trust campsites before that. Then we're there until Monday - it's my birthday on Saturday and we're going to a thing called Go-Ape. It's all done in grizedale forest and you go on ariel slides and rope bridges and stuff, the whole thing is about 2 miles in the trees I think. I'm excited but also a bit scared . . .
I'm going to try and go to the Lakeland shop while we're in the Lakes too (boyf doesn't know yet)
Better go and pack and get some things together for the journey - got the £4.70 mag deal from WH Smiths to keep me going.0 -
Woke up this morning to find a grey squirrel sitting on the washingline post helping itself to our bag of bird nuts! :j Considering we live in the middle of Liverpool and the nearest park is about 5 minutes walk away I was quite surprised to say the least, so we all stood and watched it for a bit as it sat nibbling its nuts then stretching out the to the bag of nuts (about a foot away from the post) then swinging onto it to hang upside down and scattering nuts all over the floor. OH took some pictures before rushing off to work. Not long afterwards the squirrel decided it had had enough and scampered off along the back wall and out of sight. DD is made up and I can't help popping into the kitchen to see if its come back every now and then :rotfl:
Yesterday I made a spiced prune cake (recipe from here) and some "fruit fluff" (also from here) - both are a hit with OH. The cake is in a sweet tin to keep fresh but the fruit fluff didn't make it through the night so DD didn't get a chance to try it.:o I'll let her pick the flavour and make a new one next time I go shopping.
Also yesterday I decided to do the weekly shop on my own on foot instead of with OH/DD and in the car.So, walk off to Asda and take my time doing the shopping as it's the first decent length break ON MY OWN since DD broke up for the summer. I filled my trolley with Smartprice stuff, bought DD a new duvet (with her pocket money but she REALLY needed a new one) and managed to get 7 loaves of mostly Kingsmill wholemeal bread for 20p each. Not really a saving in my book but since there was no smartprice bread left the reduced stuff was the next cheapest! By the time I had finished I had too much shopping to carry home (due to the weight of the shopping and the size of the duvet) so I decided to treat myself to a taxi home (money to come out of what little PIN I have this month) so I get my 3 shopping bags, rucksack, shopping trolley and duvet into the back of the taxi with some help. The meter switches on at £1.80 (:eek:) and we set off - by the time we have gone the length of the street the driver has to pull over as the taxi has run out of petrol (broken fuel gauage apparently)
:rotfl: He decides that since the meter only reads £2.20 I don't have to pay (:D) and then he helped me carry the shopping home as it was on his way to the petrol garage anyway
:D Talk about lucky and kind as there is no WAY I could have managed to carry all the shopping home even from the bottom of the road. OH was a bit puzzled until I explained and then we couldn't help but laugh as its the first time I've gotten a taxi in Liverpool since we went out for his birthday at the beginning of July so it would be just my luck to pick that one.
Not much planned for today. Originally I was going to "play" school with DD but I haven't got the patients to sit and do stuff with her today so I've told her its a teacher training day so there is no school today :rotfl: This means I can get on with cleaning the house (hasn't been cleaned properly for about 2 weeks, but then again we haven't been here the past two weekends!) and some baking once I've caught up with the washing up (mostly pans from baking/meals yesterday). If the rain holds off I might even venture outside and do some gardening and clear up the nuts that are all over the floor :rolleyes:Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
morning all
sounds like you had a taxi night mare Nikki! glad you got home in one piece.
I was also really please to hear about Lillibet's new arrival - George. Let's hope that they make another appearance soon.
well, still planning to have an OS weekend - but tested out the breadmaker last night. I put the timer on and selected teh programme I wanted. However, it turns out that if you set the timer first, selecting the programme voids the timer - you have to set it last. needless to say, I was wakened at 1am this morning with the BL**DY thing beeping at me :rotfl: :rotfl:
Oh well, it least it tasted good this morning. Going to treat myself to french toast for brekkie tomorrow morning. Yum!
have a good day - at work, like a lot of ou so better do something productive!r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0
