Thanks Fairylights:T, Port is a good idea, a vaguley decent brand will age well. That will do for now & gives us time to reseach wine etc.

Apprentice Tycoon, we are planning a time capsule for the week Spud is (fianlly) born, best friend/wouldd-be godmother is in charge of getting a selection of newspapers & magazines, that week's no. 1 single, stamps & this years coins. Can you think of anything else we can add? Thanks.

I think that it's a great idea, but how about a cassette of mummy and daddy talking about him and maybe the odd baby noises on too.

    Lillibet,

I know very little about wine, but a scout around online has pointed me to this reputable wine supplier:

    http://www.bbr.com/GB/index.lml?ID=TZ32BML7NR300C7

Under the shopping section, you can specify what you're after, or in the investing in wine pages, you can come up with wines for about £30 to £110  per bottle!!! But there are some affordable investments to be had. There's a port on there that will mature 2010-2022, perfect timing for you!!! It's £25 for a bottle, which isn't bad, I guess!

Lovely idea. One day, just one day, I'd LOVE to spend about £50 on a bottle of wine and see how different it is from the plonk I'm used to!

At work, but I did remember to put stuff in the slow cooker this morning...

I gave some HM cookies prettily wrapped up to my dad for his bday yesterday evening and he thought they were from a posh patisserie!

Moggins, that's awful, what happened? Understand if you don't want to say. I live on my own and the thought of something like that happening bothers me sometimes...

DH had gone out for the evening and I was on my own with the kids. I heard the front door opened and thought he'd come home early so I went out to see why he was back. Instead I found a strange man standing in my hallway. He tried saying that he thought my house was the pub???????????

He didn't appear to keen to leave either, luckily my hallway is quite narrow so I forced him bodily out of the front door (whilst swearing at him and telling him to get out of my house) and locked and bolted the door as soon as he was out. Called the police immediately after he had gone but needless to say they didn't bother putting in an appearance :(

Moggins, that's awful, bet you felt quite shaky afterwards? Hope all is OK?

Thanks loadsabob, I am looking into it. Think I may go for it.

    Hello,

Lillibet, what about the smallest outfit they fitted into, and a picture of them in it. When they're toddlers and growing up they love to look at them. They can never believe they were that small. Also where we're renting they have mounted and framed plaster casts of their daughters fist and foot, it looks incredibly sweet. You can just frame hand & foot prints but you'd need advice on what paint or inks are safe to use. Little ribboned bundles of baby hair after first hair cuts are the traditional thing I think too.

Moggins, sorry to hear about your intruder, I've always dreaded that sort of thing happening, at least your DH is back for the weekend which will help.

Pooky, glad to hear it was Ok at Great Ormond St yesterday. Does your daughter mind the idea of being bionic for a while! The fridge magnets sound like a super idea, my two would have loved to find they were magnetic when little!!

Nice to have heard the other news about flats & new jobs.

Down to only one visitor at the moment, but it's back up to 2 again from next
wednesday, so being careful on menu's to keep costs down with nearly constant visitors, but still trying to make them meals that seem special as the visitors are 'on holiday' even if we aren't!!

OH gets back tonight, so planning a relatively relaxing weekend, but maybe try to do some sightseeing either walking in the town, or maybe go for a drive one day.

    Bye for now,
    Have a good weekend

Moggins - that's terrifying *hugs* to you (and for being brave enough to force him out)

PP - I hope you have a lovely day out and really enjoy your BK. Sorry to hear the painkillers aren't working all that well right now.

BQ - your dinner sounds like it will be lovely (making me hungry!)

Rnshon - have a lovely girls night, the chilli sounds good, can I come? :D

fairylights - it sounds like you're doing the right thing - aye it's sad that the last of your wedding money won't be there, but it'll be buying you peace of mind and that's SO worth it.

Pinkfairy - sounds like you'll be busy (sending lots of crossed fingers for a nice checkout person for your vouchers)

Anacasta - *hugs* and CONGRATULATIONS. Is it IBM or Manpower you'll be with? Manpower are supposed to be pretty good (lots of training anyway) and IBM are FANTASTIC. Either way get signed up to "women in blue" as quick as you can; they do lots of events through the year that you can be paid to attend, including some "girlie nights" that are fully paid for and catered/vino'd!

Pooky - I'm glad your DD is handling her news so well (and *hugs* to you for being so positive for her.) and I totally agree. You deserve the day off!

catznine - have a lovely time with your sister, and enjoy your PIN money!

Jo - well done on the job :D

TM - I'm waiting to hear your loaf results... I'm reading all the bread threads with interest right now (I wanna breadmaker! birthday methinks!)

Lillibet - that's a lovely idea for spud :D Port should be really nice. I'm not a big into wine storage person, but my Dad's quite keen and most wines (other than the "big" reds) don't benefit much from long storage. Virgin's website is good for "best drunk" dates for future bottles, but it strikes me that some ports (ruby, tawny and white?) for the first few years might be well worth it.

Jazzy *hugs* hope you feel better soon.

I've had a rubbish week so far, my cat dying on sunday really knocked me for six and I was off tue/wed with digestive issues (which are normal for me in times of stress) and then back to work yesterday to find that my boss is off and I'm covering site with one untrained person "backfilling". Am knackered! I'm also doing 2 twelve hour shifts this weekend...

Ah well, I'm off most of next week in recompense so I can get nice and O/Sy then!

Hi Se999 - I'm still in awe of your hostessing skills, wow.
Pre O/S: what's a vitamin? Does it begin with the letter e?Now: I'm not eating any of that pre-made rubbish...

I'm sorry to hear that Moggins, you sound very brave (but what else could you do).

How on earth did he get in, I presume your door was locked, that's really worrying?

No, unfortunately the door wasn't locked as such, just on the latch. We don't usually 'lock up' until we go to bed or if I am out in the back of the house as our living room is right next to the front door. Needless to say it will be locked from now on :(
