    Hi Melissa75

Don't buy a lexmark!!!! the ink costs more than the printer

Epson seems to be the cheapest to buy ink for and available in refilled/copycat too

As to model decide what you want to print ie photos or back grounds and ask for advice in the showroom,if you want good phot machine expect to pay a lot for the printer ,we take the memory card to a shop and get the photos printed off there better than £200 on a printer

My Epson is fine for documents and papers etc and cost £30 a couple years ago and i can get 3 refill cartriges for a fiver at a local shop

Others here have spoken about Home Bargains, Poundland, etc. selling cheap crafty stuff, we haven't got any of those particular shops where I am here in the Midlands - although I have got one locally called 'The Depot' that sells some. Just hunt out your nearest 'bargain' place, hopefully they will do craft stuff cheap...

I think your kids watercolour crayons will be fine - just make sure you use a waterproof ink to do your stamping with otherwise it will run.

Good evening everyone! My Mum and sister popped up to visit today, and my Mum had bought me a digital camera for my birthday (last week), so I must get a printer now!
I would be really grateful if anyone could advise me of a cheapish printer that I could use for card making and for ordinary pictures. I don't want to pay heaps for ink all the time!! Thanks in advance!

I use an Epson and print my own photos and background papers on it. Mine was only about £55 and the photos are very good. I do use only genuine Epson cartridges tho' but have looked around for the cheapest price I could on t'internet. The one thing I don't like tho' is that I can't find a place that will take my empties and I do like to recycle wherever possible.

Thanks for all your tips regarding the best printer - seems like the epson is the way to go!!!
Shaz, I use mainly two websites to buy my decoupage, liz's crafts (free postage - I don't think there is a mimimum spend!), and virgo crafts (free postage if you order over £5).
I can't recommend enough those little studiolight mini decoupage books, they have kept me busy for ages. You get 18 decoupage images to make up, plus about 10 matching papers and a few little embellishments. They cost about £4. My favourites are "precious moments", "some bunny to love", and they do a few disney ones. I got mine from ebay, but liz's crafts have a few I think. I hope this helps!!

Melissa, I have a HP all in one. It prints, scans and photo copys. Not to mention all the free photo editing software you get with it. My inks are about £15~£20 each for remanufactured ones from ink club (you get quidco/piggy points too). However I dont usally print my onw backgraound paper so I cant help there.

Shazx, with watercolours to start with I brought a cheap set of watercolour pencils for 99p from ebay just to try them out. I loved them so I then brought some Caran D'Ache swisscolours ~ from here. Theya re really good and you get no scratching effect on the paper you use them with (unlike cheap ones). I got a big set of 30 however a small set would do just fine for £6.49. As for stamps it depends what you are after but I use sir stamp a lot ~ funkly kits ~ crafts u love and of course ebay, you can get some really cheap penny blacks on there that has only been used a handfull of times :D

Right I am off to make my card for this weeks challenge :D

    Hellooooooooo ;)

I'm not sure I'll meet the challenge this week as I've been up to my knees in boggy mud and streams and that was just the campsite! :rotfl:I've been on a camping residential with my students this week, and it rained every morning but was fantastic in the evenings!

Anyway, back to cards, I've just been over to Kultya.com and put an order in for some paper and ribbon ;)

LOL I expect you guys have noticed.......................I'm not that girly :o BUT although you said you didn't like this card polly, I think it's pretty damn good and I could just about cope with those flowers ;)

And qwiky I liked your textured metallic paper you made, a much cheaper option I should imagine, but not as garrish as some metallic papers I've seen!

I might have a go at those watercolour pencils myself! When I first started card making I used to use stamps, but I wasn't sure what to use to colour the image, so I haven't really bothered with stamping for ages. But there are some gorgeous stamps out there so I am very tempted to try again, I have seen those penny black ones and they are really cute, and the handmade cards made using these stamps seem to sell on ebay quite well. MMMM what to do?
