Granny: Youre fab! i love it. I had 5 chapters from different books photocopied so i read through them and highlighted it for when i continue later. I've always wanted stick insects!!

I loooooove birthdays!!!! (other peoples now anyway!) Hope you have a great day on Wednesday, but im sure you'll be on so we can happy birthday loose weight style! And who cares about the calories at times like this, i often eat that anyway 364 other days of the year :p

Bails: Why dont you try buying a bag of grapes, and every time you feel the need to chew, get chewing on them. Eating regularly might speed up youre metabolism a bit more, and grapes arent sinful. Every bag of grapes you finish, have a treat that you really like. Thats balancing not pigging out on the wrong things, but then not denying yourself of the good stuff either? Im not sure how to get around it really bails, maybe time will help too?
I really hope you find a balance that works for you :)
  • Hi Bails, sorry I can't offer anything except moral support :grouphug: - you know me by now, weigh it - count it - write it down - everything you don't want to do.

Hi bails - a very tricky one. I too sometimes wonder what aspect of behaviour are from the essential me and and what are adaptations to long term illness. The good news seems to be you are not putting weight on. You also say you don't feel hungry very often; do you mean this is part of your illness, or your constant grazing so you never reach hunger, or the eating you are doing is as much comfort/boredom related not from hunger (or all or non of the above!) By the way, I don't see some 'comfort' eating as meaning you, or anyone else has food issues. To me it is a legitimate stress response and a coping mechanism. You are being deprived of fundamental human experiences by your loss of health, to not find comfort elsewhere , when ever possible would be strange I think. If you are not putting weight on, and you haven't been so well of late and you don't want weight loss to be the priority, but getting well is, would it be ok just to leave things as they are? It is quite clear that as soon as you see a chink of light in any idea you go for it, be it exercise oportunities that you might manage, or working in a school environment, albeit in a vastly diminished way from what you would choose. Maybe you need to bumble along as you are doing. Juggling too many balls never lasts for very long with our health problems. And maybe when the late winter turns to spring, then summer, the change of seasons will be enough to lift you up and tweek how you are eating a little further and you loose another 1/2 stone over the summer. Thanks as ever for your honesty and openess.

Bails, you gorgeous person you. I echo what is been said. Your current wellbeing is paramount, so if you eating and not gaining, even if you were gaining a tiny little bit, then carry on. I know its differcult, but we are all here to help, assist, offer shoulders or just make a stupid comment with the aim of raising a smile ;) Cant think of what else to say, been mal and all that. But I would make weight maintianing (or loss) a secondary issue to your overall health.

Well weighed in this morning and was level - at 16st 7

so managed to get away with it. My sponsored row was 5x2000metres with 3 done in the morning and 2 done just after lunchtime. we were doing a 100KM in a team of 10, and we lost by 2 minutes against the other team in a total of 6 hours 35'

gained 220 UK pounds for sport relief thanks to family & friends so I am pleased about that

  • Another disasterous wi this week. STS - AGAIN!!!! Im absolutely gutted...

Thats now 4 weeks since I lost anything cry.gif

Thankfully today is my doctors appointment and after a long chat with him, hes recommended I come off my diet for a month, until my next appointment with him. Hes told me not to point ANYTHING for a month, just to eat sensibly but to take the pressure off myself. He did say not to weigh myself for a month but also said he realised that that probably isnt going to happen (and hes right) but he said just to treat my Monday wi's as something casual, just a wee peek to see how Im going but something thats not important in the great scheme of things.

Its going to be VERY odd not pointing anything but well Ill try anything at the moment...

Oh and could you take me off the weekly chart for a few week too :(

sounds like we are feeling the winter blues at the mo. I think it has something to do with the clock change which i know sounds mad. The two weeks before the clocks change, my metabolism is all over the place, my sleep patterns are screwed - it's like my internal clock changes a bit early and i just can't balance that with whats actually going on in the world - waking up at odd times, finding it hard to go to bed at the right time to get a decent nights sleep . . . .could that be part of whats giving you grief Bails and Starlight?

Bails, you have taken on a lot of new thuings in the last couple of months - the job and the gym - you are doing brilliantly to manage them both considering your situation. You've proved that you can make intuitive eating work for you before so you can do it. Perhaps give yourself a target of when you want to really start doing it properly again, say in a few weeks, and gradually build up to that, taking some baby steps along the way like making sure you eat breakfast, or palnning some healthy snacks along the way.

Starlight, i think your doctor is right ,you do need a rest. However don't go too far off paln - i agree not to point anything, but you know in your head roughly what your plan will allow, and broadly stick to it. I took a break from SW, used it as an excuse to eat what i wanted, and here I am over 12 months later, struggling to get started again. I don't want to sound like a doom monger but i would hate you to end up feeling like i do sometimes.

Oh, btw, those ww books weren't just aimed at Vix - if ANYONE wants them please just pm me.
