I would have liked that Mum! I go with my sister and she so was so frightened of the water she shook throughout the first lesson. I am able to swim (well selected non-drowning!) as long as my feet can touch the bottom of the pool. I need to improve my stamina really. We have made some great friends at our class. Helps too that our instructor looks like a Spanish David Tennant - someone nice to look at as we learn!;)I would if I could but I can't so I won't!0 -
tagz think you really are my daughter cos I can only swim same as you , soon as I realise out my depth I stop swimming and sink [gracefully ] to the bottom. On holiday in Italy a couple of years ago I had worked out I could swim to a certain point and after that there was a steep drop and it was very deep, there was a lounger at that point so I knew how far to go ,trouble was some rotten swine moved the lounger .wnen i realised down I went lucky for me my friend grabbed me ,everyone thought it was soooo funny [not ]l:T Never Too Old to learn :T0

Afternoon everyone,
Glad to see you've all been about an chatting this weekend - makes a change.:D
Lois - glad to hear the OH is doing ok. Keep us updated. And :hello: to everyone else. I'd like to comment on you all, but there's too much to say, except congrats Markman:j on getting to the next stone... huge acheivedment oh and wendy- I'd highly recommend going to things alone. I was far more successful at RC when I went by myself, I found when my friend (impressed by my weightloss at the time) joined, I was more isolated from the group, when she left to have a baby, I made loads of new friends and am now not afraid of going to situations where I'm out of my comfort zone.... one word of warning though - make sure it is ladies only sessions you go to. I haven't been swimming at our local pool's adults only sessions since I was followed home by some creep who thought he was being romantic or endearing or something and chatted me up outside my house.
I've fallen off the wagon bigtime and I'm expecting a gain this week as I was out with friends on Saturday night. Since having DS, it' takes me so long to recover from a night out I decided to book the day off today, spent this morning in bed. - had the longest lie in ever and I'm now sitting in my pj's checking up here before I start my day properly.
As for exercise, I think I'm sorted now. My M & Fil bought my DS an 8ft trampoline & enclosure for his birthday (not till october but they wanted him to get use out of it this summer)... guess who's going to be exercising in the back garden when DS goes to bed?.... thank goodness we have a huge fence round the house....
vix- can you recommend a decent sports bra so I don't bounce whilst bouncing?:DGoal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.0 -
Morning everyone
Beanie I've just seen your question about pain when using the cross trainer. I sometimes get a bit of a "pull" in the first couple of minutes (wouldn't call it pain in a million years) if I haven't been on it for a while, but after the first couple of minutes that goes away. Some cross trainers are angled a bit differently from others and maybe the one at your gym doesn't suit your shape. I know it's awkward but do you have any way of trying other cross trainers to see if the problem is the same on all of them? Any sort of pain that doesn't go away if rested or recurs time and again should really be checked out by the pros though x
Lois thanks for checking in and it's so good to hear the positive news about your DH.
Raphael, well done on the running. Good luck with weigh in too.
Mark88man, congrats on reaching the next stone!
Morning Delly, snap I've had an "off the wagon" week too and I'm just about to post up the results of that.
Wendy bit disappointed in your friends, going swimming with you once in a while shouldn't be too much to ask if these are the same friends whose ironing you do for themDo think about going alone though, after all while you're actually swimming it's a solo activity anyway
If I took someone swimming with me I know I wouldn't fully concentrate on the exercise.
I will come back later with weigh in results as son wants me to go and play tennis with him, and believe me I need the exercise0 -
Been on the cv lecture this morning, it goes on all week:eek: how can one man talk about a cv for a week:rolleyes: anyway covered a little today.
Went to waitrose (local shop no choice not very MSE) they had half price my fav of all time salmon crescent the ones with soft cheese, love 'em, desert island food for me but never buy them as they are so expensive, anyway  asked cheekily if that was his finally price, the man took them off me, tapped away on his reduction gun and gave it to me for 75% off:D all eaten now, worth asking eh?:D
I have decided, kids away at school, first time alone for many a week I am going to eat what I like today, not gorging, binging eating for Engalnd none of that but I am going to have exactly what I fancy and that included the salmon crescents and I also bought white bread(the devil);) no guilt, no worries, I am just taking a day off, maybe two including tomorrow because I have always been super good and run mainly on 95% good and 5% bad if that so today I am having a day off;)0 -
Good for you Victory. I know what a long way you have come to be able to have a guilt free, but not go mad, day off. Enjoy:TI try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0

Thanks BB I know I can do it, yes the cals will be loads today and maybe tomorrow but hey I am not aiming to eat as much choc as I can swallow or as much bacon as I can eat it is not about that it is just a little break, very mini 24/48 hours break so I can enjoy the white toast without rationing it to one slice only and a tiny smidge of butter (extra light flora)
It is not madness, i am having oven chips and chicken tonight for dinner and maybe have the skin rather than take it off, just that kind of thing, little silly things:D0 -

Thats like the things I do when I "have a day (or 2!) off". Rather than pig out on chocolate and biscuits (although it has been known!) I tend to enjoy having fat on bacon (yum crispy), normal oven chips instead of SW ones and olive oil instead of fry light. Thats the kind of things I miss most when I'm 100% on plan. Its those little things that probably cause me to completely lose the plot though:DThanks to all who post competitions!!0 -
BB and KPC I'm in Acton in London. I'm actually a bit fed up as I got a phone call at lunchtime to say lesson was cancelled something to do with the temperature of the water. Wusses!
Wendy - this is spooky - EXACTLY the same happened to me in Malta a good few years ago. We were visiting relatives and thankfully my brother was there to save me! You're not artistic too are you?I would if I could but I can't so I won't!0
