yay ness!
not sure what to do about the neighbour - marion - perhaps offer to keep an eye on the skip and let him know if people are putting stuff in it? That might score you up some points to get him to get rid of the other stuff.
Missy, the food thing is getting less scary actually. A fried caters for 30 upwards which would be for us I just double things here and there - I do have al ittle list made out though that has amounts of meat, cheese etc per head so I just multiply up. This weekends menu is . . .
sat
breakfast - saus(quorn for me), mushrooms and eggy bread
lunch - ribsticker stew(beef, leek, onion, cabbage and celery, seasoned with ginger and thickened with breadcrumbs), cold beef, cheese, salami, bread, apples
PM - apple and raisin griddle cakes
tea - chickpeas(recipe on recipe thread), frumenty and cold chicken
sun
breakfast - bac, mush and eggy bread
lunch - leftovers plus butternut squash and pork soup.
the real pain is shopping it and getting there! Roll on june when theres more stuff in season too - I try to keep seasonal and the guys are starting to look a bit green when yet more apples come out. I tried them with radishes but the looks of disgust were quite comical. Idid suggest that we should have an authentic breakfast of just bread and cheese or something but the howls of protest could be heard in Edinburgh.0 -

I guess last night some other people put a bunch of their rubbish in it (NOT ME) and he has been out this morning and thrown it all out onto the grass. Now I know it is not on my property but I do not think I should have to have it dumped outside of my house - including a toilet and sink!!
I don't feel I can speak to him as he is notthe friendliest of blokes. What do you think I should do?
Thanks
Marion
Marion, why not phone your council (there's usually a whole page 'advert' in the phone book) and explain the situation to them. I'm pretty sure it is them that would be responsible for removing 'fly tipping'. If not them, then they should be able to advise you who to contact.
Good luck.

Marion, could you contact your local council and ask them to take away the stuff that has been dumped on the grass? Then mention it to your neighbour so that he knows that whoever is putting stuff in his skip it isn't you? Perhaps then you could mention 'in passing' that it's a pity that the people who delivered the skip have put it by mistake outside your house ... if he needs another skip that might ensure that he has it put outside his own house.
Oh Just seen FFM said the same thing.

Granny - 5lbs is very rescuable: do you feel more able to focus now than you did before you went away? Perhaps the slight break will mean you'll get a good loss this week if you can get back on track. And what did you decide with Mr GN cooking - did you manage to STAY AWAY FROM THE KITCHEN for the duration?? I have to bite my tongue not to interfere too:o . Sounds great that he is going to take over the cooking during the week.

Mr GN cooked brilliantly on Tuesday night -- a very simple one pot salmon recipe and I managed to stay right out of the way. He shopped for the ingredients whilst I did the rest of the week's shopping, had to ask an assistant for every single thing on the list as he has no idea what you'd find where in a supermarket. They'll all be hiding next time he goes in.
Tonight he's grilling gammon and mixing salad ... so far he's only come in to ask me what to do about six times and I'm staying here. The depths of his ignorance are stunning. But bless him he's trying his best.0 -

Grannynise I too have a tryer. My DH was brought up on a diet of meat and potatoes NO VEG! When we got our first flat together he tried to cook for me and boiled radishes! They were horrible but I couldn't hurt his feelings so I ate them. I have since educated him and whilst he is no Gordon Ramsey he can rustle up a great Gingered Chicken Noodles (still won't eat them though!).
I would if I could but I can't so I won't!0 -
ha, arent men cute.
Today's dinner is the kind of dinner that was fab. Only took 10 minutes. I had some ham (matt had corned beef) we had salad and we wacked the new potatoes in the mirowave for 7 minutes! Then i had strawberrys to finish.
Healthiest meal ive had in a while!
thanks for the hug too granny. mwah coming in your direction.0
