Mr GN cooked brilliantly on Tuesday night -- a very simple one pot salmon recipe and I managed to stay right out of the way. He shopped for the ingredients whilst I did the rest of the week's shopping, had to ask an assistant for every single thing on the list as he has no idea what you'd find where in a supermarket. They'll all be hiding next time he goes in.

Tonight he's grilling gammon and mixing salad ... so far he's only come in to ask me what to do about six times and I'm staying here. The depths of his ignorance are stunning. But bless him he's trying his best.
That's great granny (and really funny:D ) I think your DH and my OH were separated at birth:D .
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

When we got our first flat together he tried to cook for me and boiled radishes!

That made me smile and remember my friends dh who tried to cook her dinner once and spread frozen sweetcorn on a baking tray and popped it in the oven!!! I swear they do it on purpose to get out of any furthur cooking LOL!:D

Marion, why not phone your council (there's usually a whole page 'advert' in the phone book) and explain the situation to them. I'm pretty sure it is them that would be responsible for removing 'fly tipping'. If not them, then they should be able to advise you who to contact.

    Good luck.
    FFM :)

Thank you and everyone who offered suggestions to deal with my "flytipper" I think ringing the council seems to be the best solution for me. I will wait a few days and see if he is going to throw it back on the top after he has finished putting his stuff in.

Funny enough the rag and bone man was around yesterday and took a lot of stuff out of his skip so he might have room now!!

Diet wise I am having a good week. Don't know why but I just don't seem to want to nibble as much as I usually do:confused: . And I am finding that smaller portions are filling me up just as much as bigger ones. I know it is free food on slimming world but surely less is more if you know what I mean!;) :j

Cous-cous cereal sounds interesting, I like cous-cous. What else is in it? how do you make it??

I like cous cous too! And I had never tasted it untill about a year ago:confused: !

I prepare the cous cous in the normal way - just the plain stuff. You can have it hot or cold according to your preference. I then add some fresh blueberries and chopped strawberries (any chopped fruit would do) and then mix in a syn free yogurt. You can vary the portions of each item as much as you like and make a huge bowl or just a little bowl and it is all free food on SW.

I like it because it leaves me 2 HEB choices to have during the rest of the day instead of using 1 up for cereal or toast!:j

I have also been know to have this for a late night snack to stop the munchies - it really is filling.:T

Is that a code? like scrabble?

anyways popping in to post a GAIN 1LB This week has been the hardest I have worked in the gym for the second week running, Playing rugby for the first time in 4 weeks on Saturday took its toll, the Monday gain was worse than normal!! I know rugby does this to me, but wow it almost counted as a holiday gain :) And no pleasure to show for it either! Actually just checked my stats, havent recorded them since the Hong Kong Trip, but Body Fat down 1.2% to 26% and Muscle Mass up 1.4lb to 11.7.0 so not to shabby I guess :)

Marion my take in it, as long as you and you neighbour dont hae each other, I would be knocking on the door and just explain, that you did not put any rubbish in the skip. More out of letting him know than trying to confront. I hope it gets sorted, though I am sure the council will help.

Missy I think when you express holiday gains as a % of total body weight, then you might sure win, but then surely that applies to weight loss as a % makes the weight lost but you 'lightweights' even more impressive :D

Right back to work I have lunch with an old boss today :)

  • hi everyone! ive had a good week although no measurements! while the weathers been good ive been walking lots. even got to 10'000 steps and then some a few times! (walking round shops counts too! tesco - EVERY ISLE !!!) i also bought some wrist/ankle weights and have been using them 15 mins a day. need to fit my yogalates in this weekend tho.

eating has been going well too apart from the half pizza and chips last nite but i will swap that for a treat day at the weekend.

i just thought id post a tip for anyone just getting started or who finds it difficult to excersise. the easiest way is walking. i am in recovery from ME so it used to take all my effort to walk from one room to another never mind anything else.

my tip now is not to count distances or anything, start by going by lamposts. walk the first 3 or 4 lamposts to help warm up, then if you feel up to it, pick up speed to the next one. if you can keep it up to the next one. do so. when you need to slow down, do it for the next few lamposts until you are ready to pick up again. its great and you soon notice how much better you get rather than thinking 'i cant even manage 5 mins' or '1 mile' it helps you feel more positive about it.

    good luck everyone x

    Morning everyone

Hope you're all doing OK and that there's some light at the end of the tunnel now it's close to the weekend for those who were struggling a little bit.

KPC, my Dad used to cater single handedly for large groups of people, he was brilliant at it. All his talents in that area went to my sister! I do admire people who make it all seem so effortless, I can tell you're like that too!

Marion, do let us know what happens about the skip! That's quite funny about the rag & bone man raiding it!

1lb gain sounds extremely healthy to me Suggs especially with your muscle mass on the increase. Are you playing this weekend?

As for total weight loss expressed as a %, then mine is a shade over 27% off my starting weight. That doesn't sound like much, only just over a quarter off. I know others on here have done a lot more than that :D

I've let things go so far this week, completely my own choice and no excuses, but I will spend today and the weekend back on "diet pace" and hope I can repair some of the damage before Monday!

PPP, how are you getting on with the wrist/ankle weights? I had some last year but I bought cheapy ones from Tesco and ended up giving them away because they weren't comfortable at all (yes, I know they're not supposed to be - but you know what I mean :p ) I'd like some where I can get on with my workouts and almost forget are there.

..... in defence of the gents here, you birds ain't any better :) My mate's wife made a stew and put popcorn in the pot instead of pearl barley. The stew was popping all over the kitchen.
  • still early days missyg, just had them a few days but i feel a burn when im using them - think thats whats supposed to happen anyway! it is just £3 ones from tesco as i cant afford much more but i'll keep going and see what happens.
