If you fancy a running challenge?? How about we set each other a challenge?? :)

Good luck with the game today Suggs!

Thanks for the fitness info. I have been keeping things ticking over with my usual routines all through the winter, but I just needed a kick up the rear to work harder.

Can I - erm - get back to you about the challenge? :D Still not convinced running is the right challenge for me. I intend to wait until son goes back to school and then try a week of it, see how I go. (Yes I can run with him too, but he's such a chatterbox and stop/start if he gets distracted!)

Let us know how the game goes.
  • I must admit to being one of those 'ladies' that says 'I don't do running', I just can't - I look silly :o and don't enjoy it  .

When I used to go to the gym (several years ago) I was happy doing anything except running, I would warm up on the treadmill by walking fast - but not run.

I'm happy to report that the 2lb I put on last week has now become a 2lb loss so back where I was. In spite of seeing off a large tube of smarties 170g size (784 calories) in a single sitting (so I do understand your feelings of guilt Wendy). I knew I was 'pigging out' and I could not stop until the tube was empty - why do I do that???

I usually weigh out about 100 calories of chocs/sweets into a pot and just eat that - then I stop ('cos the pot's empty). I think I'm back on the straight and narrow again - although I did have a jam doughnut at work for someone's birthday - just when I was sitting there considering walking up to the village for a cake (I just needed one). TOTM possible cause  .

  • Can I introduce my new diet to the world, it's called the "Marks & Spencer Diet" and I am living proof that it works. I lost 2 stone in 6 months and have kept my weight down for the last 4 months too!

How does it work, well simple really:
 The food is so good you enjoy what you eat and SOOOOOOOOO expensive that you are really choosy about what you buy.
 You NEVER impulse buy because of the aforementioned cost and you never throw it away because the cost would horrify you.
 Plus the sell buy dates are really conservative which means you can eat the food up to a couple of days later and (so far anyway) not suffer any consequences.
:T Ironically I think I have probably saved money too 'cos I am eating way less than I used to.

It has even worked for hubby, he too has lost weight!

I can see your point formerchamp but will not be going to M&S:rotfl: :rotfl: Aldi and LIdl more like my shops:rotfl:

ffm i DO like your weighing of the chocs to a calorie count and then eating them, I am taking on that idea, what ones do you put in the jar?:D

It really depends on what is in the house, Smarties, Planets and Malteasers were lurking since before Christmas. We also have a few mini eggs (Lidl version).

The sad thing is that it only amounts to 23 Smarties, 8 Malteasers, 6 mini eggs but at least I get a choccie fix (without demolishing the entire packet).

My little 'pot' is one of those pale blue plastic pots with the pale green lids, that you use to store baby food in. Anything else and my 'portion' would look lost.

If I wanted more I would have to make a conscious effort to get up and go to the kitchen, weigh out another portion and that could also cause a few raised eyebrows from the other monkeys who would know what I was up to.

The night I munched through the whole tube of Smarties I was upstairs in the study, no one knew I had them and no one knew what I was up to - crikey it sounds like I have an eating disorder - hiding away and filling my face :o :rotfl: :rotfl: I fessed up to OH this morning - he didn't bat an eyelid.

  • Other single size portions, that don't need a pot are:

    Funsize fudge: 60 cals
    Funsize chomp: 55 cals
    Funsize curly wurly: 65 cals
    Funsize crunchie: 80 cals
    Funsize caramel: 85 cals
    Funsize dairy milk: 80 cals
Funsize jelly babies: 70 cals (15 cals per baby)

I think the funsize crunchies give the best value - they last ages if you don't 'crunch' and loads of sweetness to take away the cravings + a tiny bit of choccie.
