    Hiya everyone

Just had a read through a couple of pages of this topic (not all of them or i'll be here all night!) and hoping you lot might be able to help.

I want to lose about a stone before my summer holidays in July.

At the moment I'm 5ft 7, 138pounds at last check.

Although I'm slimmish, I've still got the love handles and other bits I'd rather wasn't there, so really just want to lose a little and tone up. Only got around 12 and a half weeks to do it though

Last year before my summer hols I got slightly obsessed with chicken breast. It was chicken and either pasta/rice/pots every night and a load of veg. Although I did lose quite a bit of weight, it was sooo boring, and as soon as I got back off my hols I put it all back on again

My plan this time is to just try and be healthy and cut out the crap rather than going on a diet such as slimming world/weight watchers etc. I'm gonna try and get a bit of exercise done too, have got gym membership too but at the mo i've got too much coursework/revision to do and if I go I feel I should be spending my time doing that instead!

So hoping the support in this topic may help me. I have no willpower at all and give in far too easily too chocolate (it's actually sour starburst at the moment but they are equally as bad)

I'll stop going on now but congrats to those who have managed to lose so much weight already and good luck to those who are trying at the moment :j

Hi Lexilex, welcome and thanks for introducing yourself! A stone by July is a nice manageable target, let's hope we can help you get there :) Cutting down on junk and adding a bit of exercise is also a very sensible way of going about things so you seem to have the plan well organised!

If it's nibbling on sweet treats that's the problem, what about keeping a food diary - or even just logging the snacks? (Starburst.. yum!)

    Well done ess-six :j wendy :j Anic :j and Beanie :j :j I hope that's perked you up a little bit beanie, you deserve it :j ...

...A big thank you to those of you who gained this week and were brave enough to tell us :T let's hope for a better week :j ...

...Thank you so much for posting your photos starlight I'm very impressed and pleased for you :T It's brave peeps like you that inspire us all, I hope that others here take some photos too!...

...Bb I had a quite a sweet craving for some weeks, but fortunately it's now passed and I hope that yours will too. I just made sure that there wasn't anything in the cupboards to tempt me and luckily it's workd. MrP has a couple of milky way type thingys, but I'm over it now and they're sitting quite comfortably in a drawer. I'm afraid for me it's the complete denial thing, but it works. I hope you get over it soon, it is most annoying. The good news is that you stayed the same and didn't gain :j ...

...Bails Thanks for that info about protein. I believe it to be absolutely true. When I had my sweet tooth those last few weeks, I'd eat one piece and then want another within minutes, but if I had a meal with protein then it was quite a while after that I wanted the sweet stuff, and I realised that in my case I had just got into a bad habit that could be broken by abstinence for a while. Edit - I think what I meant to say is that I didn't have such cravings when I ate protein and now I make sure that I balance out my protien intake throughout the day. (Sorry, my head is all over the place today, black clouds and all that!). Well done on going to the gym, take it easy and don't be impatient :j ..

...Welcome lexilex welcoehithernicetomeetyhx4.gifIt would seem to me that as you have a BMI 21.6, an exercise and firming programme would be more beneficial to you than any hard weight loss, so I'll let our resident fitness gurus Suggs and Bails give their sage advice. Regarding the chocolate craving, that is a popular topic here so I'm sure someone will soon be along with better things than I could say. Stay with us and help will soon come your way :j ...

Missyg, Sweets are def my main problem. If they're in the house I will eat them. I waited to start this healthy eating until all the chocolate was gona from Easter 'cos I knew knowing it was there would make me want it more, but now my boyfs bought me a big bag (and I mean big - 3kg ) of these mini jelly babies he knows I love, so they're just here staring at me.
I've tried a food diary before but found myself lying (not sure what thats going to achieve, only me that sees it  ) or 'forgetting' to fill it in on bad days. Think I might give it a try again though.

Petrichor, yes exercise is probably the best thing for me, just having time to fit it in at the moment with everything happening at the same time at Uni but in a months time that should all be over and I can go exercise crazy. Def want to start been more healthy aswell though, not just to lose some weight but other things too, like improving my skin etc. I don't eat anywhere near enough fruit/veg so got to start doing that.

I'm really chuffed I've found this topic on here. I did spend Monday evening looking for a weight loss forum, and joined one but the people aren't anywhere near as friendly/helpful as you lot on here!

Anyway, gonna go eat my tea, tuna pasta, first healthy meal of this new 'diet'. Was going to wait and start tomorrow but as they say, no time like the present :p

Welcome lex, stick around we will sort you ok :) If you stuck for recipes and ideas Page 1 of this thread has plenty of links :)

Your b/f is a horrible bloke :p for bringing all those sweeties, MrsSuggs broke into her easter egg last night and left some for tonight, I had to ask her to take it to work as I knew what could happen if she didnt :p. Anyways I hope you gave him a slap :)

Even you you cant get to the gym with the uni work and the like, walk as much as you can, run up the stairs or go up two at a time. Anything to make you breath a little harder. It all helps as does the tuna pasta :)

hey peeps, another newbie here :hello:

i'm looking at losing roughly a stone before august, basically i was always hideously underweight, i'm male, 5'8'' and at my lowest weighed 7st 10lbs  i currently weigh 10st 6lbs and think i am fat :( as i live with family eating differently to the rest of them will look like i am being awkward and due to work and financial commitments i can't afford gym membership but have inhereted some small hand weights (think they are between 3 and 5kg???) so need a bit of advice what to do next???
things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back then ;)
BH is my best mate too, its ok :)

I know! Bless him, I know he was just been thoughtful. I've managed to offload about half the bag, not to my stomach I might add. I'm still living at home, left them in the kitchen over the weekend and they miraculously dissapeard.

I think I might start trying to fit in a 30 minute walk each day. I did used to walk everywhere, to Uni, the shops, football on a Saturday, but then I passed my driving test (luckily - in a way - i hate driving so hardly use my car) and so did all my friends so there's always lifts everywhere.

Think I may even squeeze a gym session in tomorrow whilst I'm feeling all inspired :j
