Hi all - welcome newbies & congrats to those who've posted lovely losses/STSs!

I've been busy ebaying, over £100 again this week - happy me :D

Gosh Starlight you are really shrinking!!! Thanks for posting the pictures, I know I've said it before but fantastic effort losing all that weight and still keeping on track.

Re: gyms/exercise, I haven't done as much in recent weeks as I was doing before, really need to get myself back on track with that in a big way. I always feel much better when I'm "in the zone" as they say :p I'll draw myself up a new plan and start TODAY.

I have found over the last week suggs that I have started the day with good intentions that have lasted 3 seconds once the sugar lust starts. I've tried eating loads of a bananas instead, but of course although fruit is very good for you and I love it, too many bananas can pile on the lbs too:o So very much 'day at a time' at the mo to reign in the sweet tooth - does yours come in phases too? The moroccan stew is truely delicious and pretty simple (it is actually a ww recipe): aubergine, carrot, butternut squash, cinnamon, cumin, dried apricots and toasted pine nuts. Ajax can confirm it as delish as he has it now too. I cook enough at one time to freeze portions as home made ready meals.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

Starlight, your photos are truly amazing, fantastic! :T:T I second Suggs' idea to put you on LW20 if you're game? I really hope the've inspired you to see that all your hard work is paying off.
KPC, I agree with BB, you've done so well during such a difficult week. Hope things are a little more settled.
Well done to Marion, brilliant loss, and a big congrats to Beanie, you deserve it! Well done to everyone else too, some great losses, and Anic, you seem to be losing steadily all the time, well done - how is everything your end, okay I hope?
BB, very sensible - you can do it and this will help prove that to yourself. Sugar cravings to be expected I would imagine at the mo.

Here's my Free-range update (must go back and find BB's great name suggestions) : I went to the gym this morning for my gym induction, finally - they kept not getting back to me to arrange it and recently I haven't been trying so hard either:confused:. Yesterday I had a real urge to do it, so I did! :D Knew they'd weigh me, thought about asking not to know but didn't feel the need - I'm a few lbs heavier but in real terms (minus clothes and time of day) that's about 1lb, so pleasantly surprised with that. My induction was okay, nice woman, no idea about M.E. so it'll be up to me to make sure I take it steady. I was completely upfront with her and explained that being back in a gym is like a bull at a gate, so we're both going to keep me in check so I don't end up in a heap by the treadmill :D Induction 2 on Friday so she'll take me through my programme (I've asked for 30 mins to start with) and give me a fitness test, lol! It'll be good to have starting points though, to monitor my fitness progress and also check that I'm not overdoing it. Woohoo, I get to wear a HRM again! :j It feels good and scary to have been, I know I need to keep a firm rein on myself but ultimately if I can apply all the principles I use in everyday life, this is my route back to the world I love! :T It feels lovely to have used my body again :D:D

Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone and thanks in advance for the chart Delly xx

ps for the sugar cravings, try a little bit of protein with whatever you're having, see if that helps. I know nuts can be seen negatively but 5 almonds or a dessertspoon of pumpkin seeds would do it. I'd be interested to know?

do you mean take the protein along side the cake/hot xbun/whatever? Do you think this will curb craving or fill me quicker? I'll give it a go.x (Having said that, take one nut, have the whole pkt where nuts are concerned:o so maybe the seeds would be a better option for me. Wish they still sold brazil nuts in their shells - always helped contain the quantity eaten.)
well done on the gym (strange to think of a world where someone has never heard of ME - sounds bliss...). Use us as much as you like to help you not over do it but I do think you have a structured enough approach though and will again, prove you can trust yourself now.

Hey all, a 1.6 lbs gain for me, I put it down soley to the amount of alcohol consumed over the weekend. I had a great night out and surprisingly woke up without a hangover! I don't often go out or drink alot, so I thought I would have the mother or hangovers, but nothing!

I've not been to the gym in the last 4 days (still keeping to my 3 days a week minimum thou) I'm going tonight, but the last time I had 4 days off I did my ankle in when I went the next time, so I will need to be careful tonight.

Ideally BB, ensure you have some protein every time you eat, including snacks, and this should help even out your blood sugars so you don't get so many cravings. If you have a sugary snack then it'll send your blood soaring and then it drops rapidly afterwards, which is when your body'll start screaming for more sugar again - hence the feeling you're constantly craving sweet stuff. Introducing the protein will hopefully combat that. That's the science, I'd love feedback on whether it helps people in reality.
Hmm, I just realised I haven't exactly answered your question! The combination of the protein and carbs together means that the energy from the carb is released more slowly so you feel fuller for longer and have more stable blood sugar so less cravings. I'm not saying cut out the sugary snacks, have the protein with them and hopefully your need for them will diminish naturally. Got there in the end :D oh, and lots of food you wouldn't think of has protein in - I'm still trying to get my head around remembering quantities etc but I think I have some links somewhere, will try and find them later, remind me ;) I'm wondering if eggy bread would work? Protein from the eggs, sugar hit from the, well, sugar! White bread releases its energy quickly so make with wholemeal if you can.
