How much money to give as wedding gift?

I wouldn't give cash. It's cheeky to ask. What I did for a good friend recently which she loved was get a nice picture frame. Between the day and evening 'do' I nipped back home and printed out some pictures I'd taken with my digital camera of the day. They LOVED the instant keepsake.
Also, I made them a 'wedding night kit.' It depends how well you know your boss, but it contained all the necessary...
Horlicks, Morrisons paracetamol, a puzzle book, some foot rub...etc...
The few things they thought they'd need (that were in there just in case wink wink) weren't used I'm told but they very much enjoyed the Horlicks!!!
Also, if you're getting vouchers, you can buy them on ebay for much less than they're worth!
Edit sorry everyone, my computer has gremlinsMay all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
Yep - which is why I take my time on these things... but it really does belong over there - I'm just a bit busy right now...Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. i would personally give your gift anyway..........they cant expect everyone to afford to be able to give cash, its better than giving nothing and they arent likely to give it back saying oh but we wanted money....if its something for their home/pampering etc it'll probably be much appreciated and you'll be much remembered.maybe they just did it to avoid getting toasters, knive sets etc but i suspect you may be right as to what they'll do with the money.
plus if they are doing that to clear equity etc they certainly know what its like to be strapped for cash so im amazed they asked.
anyway.....just my two penneth.0 -

I think that getting a present for their little boy is a lovely idea & it'll probably be original as well. Maybe you could make them a small gift like you originally planned and either give a small present or vouchers for somewhere like the early learning centre (somewhere where it can only be spent on the boy) and maybe address it to him also. Their parents will probably enjoy seeing his face when he realises that theres something for him amongst all the cards/pressies. I know I would if it was me.0 -
This is a LOVELY idea. I'm going to do that at my friend's wedding next month.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

There was a site posted recently that had printable vouchers that you made up yourself - fun vouchers? I can't find it though... it's here somewhere, does anybody know?Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. buy a toaster and give it to them with a smile!!!! they can then take it back and get the money - if they really want to
sorry, sensible answers....I think that is very cheeky, but I would go for the options of a mass collection from the office (if they are all going) or making your pressie and putting something in their for the child.
I didn't have a gift list when I got married, I just suggested that people didn't have to buy me anything, having them there was great, but if they wanted to then they could buy me something they think I'd like. I learnt some friends clearly didn't know me!!!! But the thought was certainly appreciated and it did teach me that I need to be more open with some people!!!! Anyway somewhat side tracked there, sorry Squeaks no idea what site that is on....0 -
Found it:-

You can choose several styles, print four vouchers all the same (per page) or four completely different ones so you can be as inventive as you like.
(Thanks to the OP btw)
