Yes, you're right a FREE time company is far too expensive.0

there is a thread already running on this in Shop but don't drop so I will move this over there to be merged0

I can't see why anyone would want to though, they've got such a tainted reputation. Maybe at best buy the stuff and completely rename it, but I wouldn't relish the task of taking the name(s) on...0

Officially confirmed now that they are in administration - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/4719833.stm0

@ Art_peabody - Go to https://www.buildyourown.org.uk and have a look around there.
It's worth trying to build it yourself cos then you know exactly what you're getting and it's a good learning experience.
Also take a look at https://www.buildyourown.org.uk/forums and ask for help in choosing the spec.

The Administrators, Grant Thornton , have decided that Granville Technology Group (inc. Tie and Tiny) cannot be sold off as a going concern so it's a case of selling off the assets. Accourding to Sky News, they say have said that they would "maintain the existing customer support operation and that it would set up a helpline to assist customers, including those who have made purchases but not yet received goods."
No number has been released as far as I can see - perhaps the existing numbers are still being answered (I bet the premium rate ones haven't been pulled).
I don't know how much you can rely on the "existing support operation" even if they do keep it going. There may well be some bargains if they have any completed systems to get rid of but I certainly wouldn't risk buying one.0 -
I've owned / bought / sold lots of Dell computers and laptops and had no problems. They do some cracking deals occassionally that are usually listed in these forums. There was a deal on here a while ago for a decent spec pc with 15inch monitor for £182 and more recently they had a decent Dell 3000 with a 17inch TFT for £292 (£222 if you bought it with a laptop which i did and then sold the laptop). I'd be very surprised if you could build your own including monitor for less?
Also keep an eye on https://www.dell.co.uk/outlet as there are some pc's in there for humble money. Granted you have to keep rechecking a lot until a pc at the right price comes along but they can be cheap too. For example i bought a laptop on there a fortnight ago - Dell 510m 2.0Ghz Centrino, 1024Mb RAM, 60Gb HDD, wireless, bluetooth, DVD writer, XP Pro, SXGA+ screen. Total price on Dells website £1470 the last time i checked and i got it on outlet for £760 delivered. Lots of machines on there at silly money but there is the odd gem in there to watch out for...0 -
They've just gone into administraion and will close the stores according to the BBC website!Waddle you do eh?0

Where on earth are the stores??? The tiny and time websites don't tell you. Maybe that's why they never sold anything! (that and the fact that the computers fall apart on you)0
