I heard it on the radio too. Looks like History is repeating itself: http://www.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30400-1190378,00.htmlPC FIRM FACES TROUBLEThe future of Britain's largest computer manufacturer - Granville Technology Group - is in doubt.
The maker of Tiny and Time computers has abruptly closed all 78 of its retail stores and begun laying off staff at its factory.
The Guardian says all the group's directors, except its part-time chairman, have also resigned.
A spokesman told the paper: "Granville Technology's first responsibility is to its staff and customers and we are not making any further comment at this time."
The firm employs 1,100 workers at its factory in Burnley, Lanacashire and produces around 500,000 PCs a year.
At its height, the group had a turnover of £250m and more than 150 high street stores.
Granville, formerly known as Time Group, is owned through offshore companies in the British Virgin Islands and Jersey by 34-year-old British businessman Tahir Moshan.
He resigned as managing director last year.
Hopefully anyone with pending orders will be able to cancel.0 -
All the directors have resigned and the stores are closed. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

With the untimely demise of Tiny and Time computers, should we be on the lookout for some clearance bargains from these stores? Fingers crossed for some big reductions! :money:0

There could be some super-duper bargains on their way...???0
-
By all accounts they have sold far more stuff than they actually have in stock. So I would guess not.
BTW I can't make my mind up whether some warning sticky is required as their call centres are still taking orders!!!0 -
Very unlikely to be any bargains - if track record is anything to go by, they will probably just buy up all the stock themselves at rock-bottom prices, then relaunch again under a slightly different name (maybe tiny.co.uk instead of tiny.com!).
Of course, in doing so they will leave their existing customers behind (again!)0 -
If what you say is true then yes, a definite warning is in order! I guess the sensible thing to do would be to take a step back and observe for the time being and see what happens...0
-
Certainly take a step back but don't order anything until it's sorted!!0

Must have had my head in the sand, I had no idea Tiny were in trouble, they have some reasonable offers on their website... I'm looking for a new PC - largely because my Windows ME keeps crashing all the time.
Does this mean that if I did buy anything through the website I run the risk of loosing my money and no PC turning up???0 -
IMHO Exceptionally likely0
