The decision has been made. We are doggy pregnant effectively and shall have a dog by the end of summer. We've always had them and I've been researching which breed would be best to suit our lifestyle for AGES (looks like a guardian breed).

However, we have currently adopted 3 guinea pigs for 2 weeks while my mates are on holiday. We don't have safe outside space for them so they are living in their winter cage inside. I've not laughed so much in ages. They actually mugged me this morning when I put in their breakfast. Was really funny.

My OH has had loads of them and is totally in love, I've never had anything to do with them and so they've given me an intro to guinea pigs book to look at. Bless them.

I'm looking at joining a scheme at the dentist now. £12.50 per month and you get 2 x check ups, 2 x hygienist visits per year. All x rays are included and it's 20% of fillings etc. Now I have to go 2x per year due to my "dodgy" teeth and have always had x rays every year since I was a youngster. NHS has only just gone private though and I have no intention of moving practices. There are extra things included but just those things being included actually save me money.

Right, today I have to :
finish planning all my lessons for next week.
    Mark exam papers.
    Clean kitchen
    Tidy living room

Need to sit down and discuss a few things with OH with regard to the house but unfortunately he's at work and then DJing at a party later. So it won't be until the morning that we can talk about it and then we are going to B&Q at 1pm. Soooo I'm worried it won't get sorted now and we'll go in blind! Doh!

Right going back to B & Q today to sign away approx £3000 on several different things including a cooker and hood with splash back, fridge freezer, fire, bathroom suite, tiles, wall paper, doors and handles....I think thats about it.

They have an interest free credit thing going on at the moment where you pay it off in set payments too. It works out quite well for us because we've already got the money but don't have to part with it all at once this way. Better in our account than theirs I guess.

I'm gutted though...wanted one of those side by side fridge freezers but we don't have the room for one unless we get rid of a unit, which would be daft because we need the storage. So its a boring old normal one. Only getting a cheap(ish) one (by comparison to what you can get) so it won't matter too much if we leave it here when we eventually move.

I hope all this kick starts the OH with DIY! Fingers crossed. He's having serious issues with his family and friends at the minute so he's not much better to do. He just gets unfairly criticised all the time and they keep organising things without him. He's feeling very unloved at the minute - I'm annoyed too because I can't understand what he's done to make them treat him this way.

Makes it worse that whatever they do it's always ok for his brother because....well...you know what he's like. Whereas my OH gets pulled for EVERYTHING.

Nevermind, I'll just have to come up with a fun way to spend the rest of the day to cheer him up!

Hope you did enjoy the day with OH. Possibly the best way to work on the DIY is to sit together to confirm what needs doing and actually being there with him even if you may feel a bit superfluous. Just sharing in the activity will probably help motivation.

Regarding dogs and holidays; no comment, I'm a cat person!

Right, well...dramas as per. We thought B & Q closed at 5pm yesterday but it closes at 4pm. We arrived to see the shutters falling (upsettingly) at bang on 4pm. However, some gentle grovelling and some pathetic faces later we got them to let us in!!!

We have a quote all put together (including discounts) but have to go back tomorrow to pay for it all. We still need to choose tiles and handles for the doors but then by tomorrow it should be done and dusted. Phew. We couldn't go again until tomorrow by which time ALL the deals and discounts are OFF! So we have been very lucky and owe the B & Q staff some chocolates me thinks!

As for the dog....I can't wait. My nesting instinct is kicking in....ha ha

Right we've still not bought things from B & Q but thats been due to them not having the bits and pieces that we wanted and us having to go away to think again. So I suppose we should sort that out today.

Really need to clean out the guinea pigs later too. Boo. The upside is that the washing machine is due to be delivered on Tuesday which I'm ridiculously excited about. Should be delivered between 7am and 12pm which is good as I'll be at work so it should all be sorted before I get home! Woo hoo!

I'm so tired. Cant seem to get myself back into a fully functioning routine at the mo. Aside from that we've spent too much money already. £70 yesterday on graduation photos (plus OH still needs to sort out hire of his graduation outfit), the petrol to get to Manchester etc.

I'm so proud of him and I'm happy to pay for it (although I actually think it's come out of his account) but it's really annoying that there are all these extras every month! I wanna clear my MORTGAGE! ARRGGGHHHH

Never mind. I should get my golden hello in October and that should help, then there is the tax back too. Although, my tax back will probably get spent paying for the dog...but never mind.

I'm made up. £380 back from the tax man! Yey!

Guinea pigs have gone home...I feel a mixture of relief and sadness. Relief that I don't have to clean them out anymore or keep cutting up fresh veg for them. And sadness that I don't get sung to everytime I walk in the door. Ha ha

The washing machine is ace...it's wonderful not having to go to the laundrette. I keep thinking I need to go and have kept saving 20p coins to take with me. Ha ha.

Still not been to B & Q...will have to go tomorrow or they'll tell us where to go I imagine. Hmmm...hope we can still have all our discounts.

Right, I should probably go and do something constructive. OH has borrowed my dads trailer and managed to do several tip runs which has in turn cleared our yard so it is much more usable! I can't be seen to let the side down. Ha ha

Money back from the Tax man always seems more significant! :j

No guinea pigs, then perhaps OH can sing to you on you getting in if he's home before you?

I assume those 20p pieces will be stacking up for the OP too then? ;)
