Hi Twinklie! Not sure I have said hi yet - but if not...Hi! Glad your first term is going well.:jMBNA - [STRIKE]£7068.60 [/STRIKE] £7060.00 Egg - 1422.35 A&L - [STRIKE]£249.32[/STRIKE] £215.00Loan - £13279.50 :rolleyes:0

Awww....I have 3 weeks to go! Still like you say, I can't really complain. Glad to hear from you shopgirl.
What do you guys teach? I'm secondary science. I'm so pleased that some people are saying they like it, I only ever hear people on the net moaning about it and I start to wonder why they do it. Don't get me wrong I've had bad days but the good days make up for it. I think this week will be a tough one but I'm hoping the kids will try and play ball with me and make it easier.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

I teach Health and Social Care in a college, not sure about teaching kids but teaching adults can be really good fun when you get a good group who can have a laugh as well as working. Always get the odd know-it-all but I soon sort them out!0

I was so pleased when I got paid at the end of last month. However, after paying all the normal bills, petrol (which I forgot to factor in - hubby used to pay that), a new tyre for the car, a few other essentials (food etc) my bank balance is looking much less exciting than it once was. Hmmmm....
Having said that I've paid a silly amount of tax so far and not had any of my tax free allowance. So I'm hoping that come summer next year I might get a big fat old chunk back!!!
I was at uni all day yesterday as I started my MSc. I'm nuts. Why I put myself through all these things I'll never know. Anyway, I'm doing that now and it should take about 3 years to complete. Fingers crossed.
I'm hoping next week will be an easier week at school. Last week I had open evening on night and a 2 hr inset after work....nightmare. I'm sooooo tired.
In fact I really should get on with planning my stuff for tomorrow really. Hmmmmm....yawn.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

I teach secondary science too...it's all good until you get the Bunsen's out with 32 kids...!
Hope your planning is going OK..think I may have to get on with that myself!MBNA - [STRIKE]£7068.60 [/STRIKE] £7060.00 Egg - 1422.35 A&L - [STRIKE]£249.32[/STRIKE] £215.00Loan - £13279.50 :rolleyes:0 -
OOOOh thats good to know. I've had the Bunsens out with 3 of my classes so far and up to now all is well!! However, I did a practical with yr 11 on Friday re:taking temperature of cooling water using thermometers. It did not go well. I can't understand how they couldn't do it. I was in total despair by the time I got home.
Nevermind, I'm sure it'll be fine...she said through gritted teeth. Most of my planning is done now. Just 2 lessons to sort, and thats cos I've lost somethin on my computer that I bloody wanted to use!! Doh!Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

It's surprising when a group of 16 yr olds can't use a thermometer isn't it?!?! It happens more than you would think!

As a Chemist I had to giggle at the comments on the lab work... gone are the days of floating steel in mercury, using pipettes by mouth (so much more accurate than the bulbs/syringe attachments
) and generally having great fun with real reactions and compounds such that I followed it through and graduated in Applied Chemistry (but you can tell that was a loooooong time ago!
). We had one major accident in the class in six form with hot conc. sulphuric acid but thankfully all was well several months later for those involved.
I still do a technical role now aligned with chemistry and materials, so I am sure you'll inspire our young people to see that science and engineering underpin all the technology around us and that they can get great enjoyment in these disciplines. It's great to hear you and the pupils are enjoying it together, well done and keep up the good work.0 -
