The milk powder is just to add vitamins, to make sure you don't miss out on them when switching from shop bought bread, which is normally fortified. It doesn't improve the loaf in any other way.I like cooking with wine......sometimes I even put it in the food!0

Ohh rite I never thought of that, hmmm not sure whether to add or not, is it baby milk powder? Here was me thinking we were being more healthy having HM breadTrying to be frugal and sensible with my pennies.0 -
Not baby milk powder, just dried skimmed milk. It's in the long life section at the supermarket.I like cooking with wine......sometimes I even put it in the food!0

Don't think so, it is to make a softer crust I believe, and even if it was to add vitamins I'm sure OS food has plenty any way

Correct - making bread with milk, or milk powder gives a softer crust, and IMO makes better rolls, than bread made solely with water. Has anyone tried asda own brand dried yeast in their panny??
Mine hates it and the results are unpredictable last nights bread is a right mess.
I`ll have to get some of the yeast i was using before later today i can`t believe the results can be so different for the same loaf!!.

I have got some Asda own brand yeast ready to use when my Hovis yeast runs out (which will probably be tomorrow!), so I will report back with the results0 -

i was a bit worried that the panny had something wrong with it at first as i`ve never had a bad loaf yet, i only realised a bit later that i`d started on the asda yeast as i had just put the packets in the cupboard and got rid of the box.
When i get some more normal yeast i`ll put it on the same program which was the french with a bit of garlic powder added.
I can`t remember what my normal yeast is but it`s from Morrisons and is in a creamy beige coloured box.

Yay My panny has just arrived!!!
Cannot wait to get going with it....see if i can make edible bread....and prove to OH that it was the fault of the other BM not me.......oh and prove to him that the panny was a worthwhile OS purchase:rotfl:
off to investigate it now!!!0
