    YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    my beautiful Panny is fine!

The Asda yeast is in the bin and a perfect loaf made with Hovis yeast is sitting on the wire rack cooling in the kitchen.
DH bought the Hovis yeast by mistake but it`s lovely to find the panny has nothing wrong with it. The yeast i usually use is called Harvest Gold and i couldn`t for the life of me remember what it was called, now i know i can use HG if we shop at Morrisons or Hovis if we shop at Asda!! :j

I love my Panny but... the last two white loaves I have made, the paddle has got stuck in the loaf! I only got in in December!

This only seems to happen to me when I use cheaper flour.

Penny Penguin is questioning my love for my Panny because I haven't posted on this thread:rotfl:

So to rectify this untrue suggestion, here goes:D

Every loaf from my beloved machine has been lovely. My personal favourite is 50/50 white/wholemeal. DS4 prefers 100% white, which is strange because bought sliced bread had to be wholemeal:confused: To be fair he would always eat crusty white bread. DS3 is with me on the wholemeal loaf. DH just likes them all:rolleyes:

I will find time to experiment with other breads, and quite fancy doing an olive or tomato one, since they are an horrendous price to buy. I also need to brave the timer function:rotfl:

Posted the other day that I had made some rubbish bread. One lot with no yeast (LOL!) The other with almost the end of the Doves Farm yeast. THis wasn't good at all. I binned the last couple of spoons and opened the new pack of Doves Farm yeast. Result.... great bread!

WHen I open the pack, I put it into a small screwtop dark glass jar. I keep it in the fridge.

I haven't heard of that one, but I do have another book along the same lines and I have to say that the bread without a bit of sugar and fat tasted yukky! What I've done is to cut down on the salt/sugar/oil, little by little to see how far I can go without the quality of the bread deteriorating.
By comparison with shop bread, homemade is some much better. Did you see Jamie the other night on telly? In some shop bread, there is a whole teaspoon of salt in 3 slices! I only put 1 teaspoon in a whole loaf!

Tesco flour is rubbish at the moment. Even my beloved Panny made a brick with it. Am tempted to take back what is left in the bag and complain!
  • Today I became the proud owner of a Panny - I'm soooooooooo excited. Have just loaded it up for fresh bread in the morning.

    Fingers crossed!!

  • Thanks Nell - I hope I can sleep. I've wanted a panny for ages & ages. I'll let you know the result.
