Had Panasonic SD253 for 6 months and absolutely swear by it, delicious bread every time. By the way I use about 4 or 5 tablespoons of olive oil instead of the nasty milk powder. The taste is so much better.0

Well guys I have finally managed to join the panny club. I have been saving like mad so i could get the 253 and only managed to save £60 so thought i would have to wait a little while longer. But browsing on Amazon this afternoon and got a brand new one (someones unwanted xmas pressie) for the fab price of ..... £58.99 with delivery. I am over the moon and can't wait for it to get here, hopefully by the end of next week.
Any tips on the best flour and yeast to use etc.
By the way my DH used to be a baker for 16 years and could knock up a loaf by hand with his eyes shut but could 'never be bothered'. Typical eh lol!0 -

I got a bread maker off ebay a few months ago which I hate. I can't remember what make it is but the bread is always heavy and doughy. I was at my bf's parents during the week and they had the panny 523 and the quality of the bread was amazing. I really want one but don't know if I can justify it with an MOT due in a few weeks.0

did pizaa tonight with pizza dough from the panny... need to adjust the sauce to our taste but the base was a roaring success... even the dog who pinched a slize (ARGH) thought it was nice
(she's fussy lol)

tine wrote:Well I have the Panny 253 too and I love it! I was a bit miffed to find it didn't have jam program and cake program and infact the leaflet says you should mix all the ingredients BEFORE putting them in and then put on bake only for any cake... riiiiiiiight
We'll see about THAT! :rotfl:
Thistledown did a great cake recipie that you made in the BM. The way to get around mixing it seperate is to use the 'pizza' function for a few minutes to give it a good mix - and remember to scrape the sides down. After that, just carry on as normal!(after switching off the pizza function and returning to bake only that is)

Looks like I can join this club too
Got mine yesterday and have already made 3 loaves. We've already learnt we like it on the medium to light setting as the crusts are a bit over cooked for our taste. The first loaf last night we had with HM soup and my son who normally isn't into bread and will always leave crusts ate the lot...crusts too.
All can't wait to try the cheese and bacon loaf...brekkie new years day I'm thinking with scrambled eggs and beans on toastNot in debt at the moment, but been there in the past and realise I'm the kind of person who could easily fall back into it with the self destructing spending button so making sure I keep on top of being a good girl.

I've varied the wholemeal flour between 50% and 70% and always got good results on the wholemeal cycle.0

Just a thought: does anyone know the life expectancy of a Panny. I've had mine about 3 years (occasional use); in the past nine months or so I've been using it once or twice a week, and the last few weeks have had a splurge on the lovely recipes posted on this board: gave out loads of banana bread to friends and colleagues for xmas.
Any ideas? Is there a typical malfunction?
BTW I second Kazonline's method - you just put it on pizza/dough for a few minutes, then hold down the stop button for a few seconds to cancel the programme, then press Option again to restart on a new cycle.0
